Our first experience with Blackfriars was take out from the Londonlicious menu. The food was amazing and the staff were friendly and took time to explain the pantry items as well as showed me the store next door. Planning to go back for a sit down meal in a couple of weeks.
We had wonderful lunch at Blackfriars Bistro, the food was delicious. We loved their soup of the day. The servers were friendly, we highly recommend visiting there and we will look forward to visiting again.
Lunch was delicious but it was really cold in there..Many people moved. We were dressed for summer. Didn't understand why they couldn't turn the fans off. Was down to 17 by the time we left
Dinner at the Blackfrairs Bistro is a complete experience. The food is terrific and the service was outstanding, thanks to Tracy's personal attention.
Sorry to say but this was a disappointing evening. Cheese plate uninteresting, coffee cold even as a send back, the steak was over done and the pastas, both linguini and couscous, underdone. The chocolate mouse was thin and tasteless, and whipped cream runny. The service just wasn’t interested, and wasn’t friendly. Maybe Blackfriars was just having an off night, but I would not rush back.
We took 4 guests for dinner at Blackfriars Bistro last night. We have been there many times and have enjoyed the food and service very much. None of our guests had been there before. Because they were coming from out of town, 2 of our guests were late in arriving. This seemed to disturb our server a great deal. She indicated that she would have to call her next customers who had the table booked to tell them to come later. We reassured her that we were going to a concert and would be leaving on time, but she seemed to have her "nose out of joint" for the remainder of the evening. We ordered our appetizers before the other 2 arrived, and they arrived soon after. We asked if they could order appetizers so that they could be eating them close to the time when we were eating ours. She wouldn't take their appetizer order and insisted that all remaining orders had to be done at the same time. Everyone at the table could tell that she was not happy with us! When she was clearing the table from the appetizers, my husband asked if he could get a clean set of cutlery (which is done in most upscale restaurants). This also seemed to upset her. Finally my husband told her that her attitude was ruining our dinner. She didn't apologize. She responded that we were entitled to enjoy our dinner any way we wanted. Although she smiled when she talked to us, her demeanour was anything but pleasant. The food, as usual, was very good. Five out of the six of us really enjoyed our meals. The duck breast with a blueberry sauce was especially good. However, we question whether we will ever return to the Blackfriars Bistro. This was a business-related dinner, and this server made the evening uncomfortable.
Very disappointed...My friend and I ordered a salad. We asked that the dressing be put on the side but the server said the dressing that they put on the salad was just a little. So we both said that would be ok. When the salads did arrive the dressing was VERY heavy. We both complained. The server did apologize but there was no compensation on our bill. The server said the chef must have had a heavy hand.
Had a phenomenal experience here for our Valentines brunch. The food options were all mouth watering but the best part was the awesome staff. They gave us great recommendations, chatted casually with us when appropriate and were very efficient. This bistro has such a cozy family vibe to it but with some 5-star food offerings.
Amazing Gourmet delicacies that exceded our expectations. Highly recommend a visit!
Excellent lunch, cozy spot. The green pepper pate and carrot marmalade were to die for! Love that they now have a retail shop next door and I was able to purchase some to take home.
