Our family of six went for brunch today and it was quite busy (25 minute wait for a table, which was fine). Our waitress was extremely pleasant and attentive. My omelet with cheddar cheese and sausage was quite good. The hash brown nuggets however, were cold by the time they reached our table. Having said that, we were a party of six, it was busy and I am sure the timing of meals is difficult under those circumstances.
Been coming to Mel's for 2 decades and found out today, after drinking my lemonade that they no longer have free refills on fountain drinks.They still have bottomless coffee apparently, but I don't drink it.It would have been nice to be informed about the fountain drinks before I ordered.I've never heard of a restaurant doing this before, and I worked at one in my teens.The menu changed on Thursday, apparently.
Love going to Mel's on Westmount for breakfast (or having breakfast for dinner)!The service is always great with friendly staff and the food is just as I expect every single time!For those that are curious about going in during the pandemic - There are extra hepa air filters running throughout the restaurant for safety and hand sanitizer at the entrances for use. There is a person dedicated to cleaning the tables thoroughly after each dining party has left.
I hadn't been there in 3 years. I ordered the Elvis burger with poutine while sitting in front of the Elvis picture. My girlfriend had some breakfast with Julie Andrews in behind her. Delicious food and great service. Really cool what you've done with the place in the last couple years. Not alot but enough to make a difference.
Food was disgusting and overpriced quality was not there at all service subpar at best the servers had dirty uniforms Portion size and the price that they charge are a joke we decided to give them another chance and came back after many years of not going the Reuben sandwich was disgusting hardly any meat on it and the meat that was on it was fatty the western sandwich had cooked ham on it every time you took a bite you got a mouth full of grease. Their time to respond to you is extremely slow we waited 15 minutes for someone to take our order. Definitly wont be back.One star rating
Stopped on for a meal and this was my experience.Pros:- decor and music make it an authentic diner experienceCons:- waitress had to confirm drinks a second time, then came back to confirm the meat that was selected for one of the orders, and also included sour cream on my order which I had specifically stated I didn't want; all of this yet the waitress took our order with a note pad...- food took a really long time to come, and it wasn't very busy- food tasted fine but value was poor- probably a nit pick, but two of the three meals didn't have any visible vegetables and they didn't even bother with a garnish which made for a poor presentationConclusion:Didn't give me a reason to return. Given that Fireside Family Restaurant is only one major block away and has great food and good service, I will take my business there when dining in this area going forward.
What a great place to enjoy good food and atmosphere! We visited with our 2 year old and were taken aback by the decorations and cleanliness. This place looks like it's just opened! The food was delicious, service was fast and pleasant. We can't wait to be back.

One word for it is - awesome. The food is awesome, the vibe is awesome and the service is awesome too. Loved the whole old Hollywood 50s and 60s classic theme. They even made the post covid booth separation curtains turned to old Hollywood iconic scene posters. The staff makes sure that you feel warm welcome and personlizes the experience by sharing friendly chat with you. Must visit if you are visiting the neighborhood.
