Always a pleasant experience at Cafe Pyrus. It's become one of my go to breakfast and lunch places! I'm a vegetarian so I love that I have so many options when compared to any other cafe/breakfast restaurant. Plus, the coffee is great :) so it's a win win for me.
All vegan (subset: vegetarian) options! Smoothies are delicious. Bought a green machine smoothie to go and all the packaging was compostable. The cafe is really environmentally friendly and has a hippie feel to it.
Food and coffee are both amazing, however as a couple other reviewers have said before me you need to be prepared to wait - food although always delicious takes a long time whether they seem busy or not (in my experience). Espresso based drinks depending on the day and # of staff working also seem to take longer than I would say is normal from other cafes. To be clear it’s still delicious and worth the wait if you have the time but just approach with caution if you’re on a timeline.Personal favourites are the breakfast wrap, club sandwich, and the Caesar salad.
I went to this cafe because of its well crafted plant-based menu, but the service here was beyond horrible. The servers completely messed up my order and did not even bother to apologize for it, when I went to place an order for another coffee, there was noone at the counter and when I asked the barista, she screamed at me saying that she was busy.I don't know if the servers at this restaurant are racist or just plain rude. I would rate this place in negative if I could. In all my years and travels, I have never experienced such horrible service at any establishment. I'd recommend Matter of Taste Coffee Roasters a couple doors down for a great cup of coffee and a pleasant experience. Never going back here ever again.
After serval positive experiences dining here, I was compelled to write a review. This is my favourite lunch cafe in the downtown core. Food is ? and coffee is top notch. What I ordered:1 x Black Bean Burrito w/ Chips and GuacWhat I liked:Service ✅ service is always consistently good.Quality ✅ if you are looking for a bleating, quality meal or beverage, look no further.Value ✅ if you feel you’re paying too much for what you receive then you’re probably not their key customer base.Interior Vibes ✅ soft seating lounge area, barstool seating as well as traditional cafe seating. A variety of seating options for whatever you’re feeling. Lots of natural light from the floor/ceiling windows.I don’t have anything bad to say about Cafe Pyrus. It’s my go-to lunch/coffee shoppe and can confidently recommend them to my clients + friends!!?
I am a regular at this location. Great atmosphere with ample seating and interesting local art for sale, as well as endless community oriented posts. Most of their food and beverage are quite good. However, be prepared to wait an inordinate amount of time for food to be prepared. Their staff is generally not very engaged or happy looking, which makes me wonder...
VERY DISAPPOINTED! We have gone to Cafe Pyrus for years and love the food. However, today we ordered take out and a 15% tip was added without our permission. When we enquired as to why it was not our decision if a tip should be added, and how much, there response was that they work for minimum wage and therefore we shouldn't question it. They did offer to refund it. I am of the opinion a tip is a sum of money customarily given by a customer for the service they have performed and the amount should be decided by the customer unless it's posted on the menu that they automatically add X% to all orders. I checked the menu and I couldn't find a gratuity statement.Follow up, first thing the day after I wrote this review, Tyson the owner of Cafe Pyrus called to inform me that IT IS NOT COMPANY POLICY and was going to investigate the employee that added the tip without permission and correct the situation. I changed my rating because it shows me the owner cares about the customer and was in full agreement with me that tip should be up to the customer unless noted on the menu.
Takeout: flat white, shake, pastry for $15. Coffee was ok but foam was non existent, the shake was not sweet which is good to know. 95% vegan except for cheddar cheese? I would remove the yellow #5 cheese.
Awesome food..Staff kindness to food - all was great..The only thing missing was ambience - but that's understandable due to state restrictions..Best place for vegan food so far..
Have been going to Cafe Pyrus for the last few years and absolutely love their food. Service is great as well. I am happy they're still open almost two years into this COVID pandemic as there have been so many businesses that have closed. :-)
