They warned us the kitchen was 30 minutes behind. So I started with a beer. It took them 90 minutes to tell me the beer I ordered was out of stock. Last time I check they don’t cook the beer fresh to order. When my tables food finally arrived mine was the only food that was hot. I don’t really know what I paid. The best part was the company and I brought them.Very disappointed that they set the expectation low and managed to exceed it in the worst possible way.
This evening we decided to check out Red House for our first time. After waiting 30 or so minutes, we were flagged to sit at a table. When the waitress brought menus she advised it was a 30 minute delay to get the food- not a problem. However, it took 90+ minutes for the food to come to us. When the food arrived, it was cold and subpar.Drinks took more than 60 minutes to be replenished and even then, it took them 60 minutes to inform us that what we had ordered was not in stock.10/10 do not recommend.
When this place first opened, food was top notch. The quality is not the same. Ordered the deep fried pickles, which used to be beer battered… received deep fried pickles I could get at Harvey’s… the open faced steak sandwich was chewy, and the fries are not the same. The difference from a few years ago is so substantial I would think it has new owners.
My all time fave! I love everything about this west end gem. Drinks after work, a lunch date, or even a dinner out with out kiddos. Its simply the best.Red house rolls and a glass of pinot grigio and im set.
2 poutines and an entree salad was over $40.00! The poutine was cold and dry, with very little curd. The salad was laughably small for $16.00. It was barely a side salad, with minimal dressing. A pathetic attempt at best. Extremely dissappointing. Do not waste your time or money. You would be better off and more full making kraft dinner at home. ??
1st visit - welcoming with a friendly and excellent staff and server ... recommend the Red House Burger and cubano sandwich / 2nd visit - server was very good ... we had the steak and potato cake - steak was not medium well but more medium, a bit tough and not as flavourful for a strip sirloin + fish tacos were okay ... just expect that fish is more minced than filet. We did not feel we got the value for the price we paid.
We went here twice within 3 days, and really enjoyed the food and service! The buttermilk chicken bites were delicious, and the mushroom alfredo was fantastic! Good selection of beers on tap too. The only reason this doesn’t get 5 stars is that both times we went we ordered an appetizer, and both times the appetizer came out within 2 minutes of the meals. This means your food gets cold as you work on finishing the appetizer, or the appetizer goes to waste. Fix this issue, and this would be a knock out place!
Please update your details. I realise that websites are a thing of the past for people to rely on as they too “difficult” to update, however when you post your hours on social media as opening for 1100hrs on Sunday, don’t tel me at the door we don’t open until 1130hrs. I’m not saying I won’t be back as it’s one of the only places in Kingston West….but I won’t be back today.
