Not impressed ordered online through A delivery app and my aunt order got canceled. Reasoning was 'order to large'. It was a dinner for 3 people. Ridiculous right??
I’m appalled. If this is fine Indian cuisine then I’m George Clooney. The food was subpar at best. I would almost prefer to ask for a refund but I think this is what the standard is. I ordered delivery and paid nearly $80 for an underwhelming meal which could have been a tremendous experience. The biriyani was soulless. It had no basmati rice instead a generic short grain was used. I could barely smell any saffron in there. The colour was a dull grey. There was no fried onions. The accompanying raita was sweet like sugar. It had no saalan to go with. The lamb was tasteless unseasoned meat chewy like gum. The butter chicken which they claim is old Delhi style was a put off. I lived in Delhi for many years and nowhere did I taste a butter chicken so sweet. It is supposed to be a melange of sweet/herbal/savory/acidic/meaty/smoky and umami. This butter chicken had only dairy and dry unseasoned chicken breast with no trace of flavour except for being sweet and orange in color. The Butter paneer was the same gravy sauce with paneer swapped for chicken breast. The paneer has to be cooked and roasted/fried first to bring out flavours. It was dead and sad. I am so disappointed because this could have been a great experience.
Visited the place with college friends for dinner. The kitchen closed at 9 pm so make sure you reached early and place your order. The staff is nice and the ambiance is good. There is large sitting area so they can accommodate big group. Now about the food. We order too much as the portion is big enough. So if you are big group than plan to order properly. You get complementary rice bowl with few curries. However, the restaurants allow you to pack the stuff. What we order:Dal Makani ****Palak Paneer ****Masala Paneer ****Gobhi aalo ****Fried shrimp ****Chicken biryani ****Butter naan ***Garlic naan ***The food was not spicy so you may need to ask the chef if you like spicy food. I did not like the naan as it was little hard and did not enjoy it. If you are in Kingston than may visit.
Best Indian food I’ve ever tasted. Amazing service.
Used to have supper at Namaste every Friday (before covid) and thought at that time that it was the best Indian food in Kingston. We just returned for the first time on Valentine's Day and it was such a disappointment. It has really dropped in quality in pretty much every way. They put up balloons like a child's birthday party, reducing the ambience. The food was fixed menu only (which we only discovered after being seated). The service really was poor....no server came by to even fill our water for more than 30 minutes. And I remember the food used to be really good but no today (e.g., samosas are warmed up store bought...not fine Indian cuisine. Such a shame. I think we'll find a different Indian restaurant from now on.
the best Indian we have had in the city!
Despite a pandemic, this restaurant is putting out some of the most flavourful Indian cuisine in eastern Ontario. From an inspired Butter Chicken to a Lamb Vindaloo, that exceptionally balances heat and savoury of its seasoning. Their paneer dishes are delicious and we suspect they are making thier own paneer. The texture was firm and it complimented everything it is artfully joined with. Thier nan is tandoor baked and is firm, flavourful and at times a bit crispy on the edges. Perfect for sopping up the last sauces and gravies in thier curries.
Its bit overpriced restaurant. The quality of food is average. I ordered bhutra for 2.50 and they charged me 3.99 for that.
their food was fabulous hot decadent deliciousness .. do not pass here !
A real taste of Indian cuisine. The ambiance was very good and the service was excellent. Pawan was great and very helpful. A must visit place .
