The food here is on average pretty good, some dishes better than others. The nachos somehow are always the winner every time we get them to the point where when I am craving nachos, this is where I come. Normally their guacamole is quite good but during this visit it was definitely off, almost tasted like someone accidentally used sugar instead of salt. Regardless, will certainly be back for these nachos again.
Visited the place with friends on weekend. The best part is they have ample space and can accommodate large group. We stayed till 2 am.The bar is nice and has lots of sitting area. The other best thing is that the food is really good and there are many options. Staff is fine. Some of them are nice but not all.You can enjoy the drink, music and ambience. The prices are reasonable so you will like it. Place to visit if you are in Kingston
I used to say it’s pretty hard to screw up a salad….they did. Second dish was Asiago chicken with bow tie noodles. Wow pretty hard to screw up the chicken but they did. It was burnt black! Stick to bar service!
I had so much fun here while everything was closed during January indoor dining. The food, the service and the roof top patio that had heaters at -25 degree weather was amazing! Thank you to the staff for a great experience! And…the beers stayed cold! ?
I realize that nobody wants to work during the pandemic since our fearless leader is happy to hand out cash like candy, therefore expect to see the place short staffed, not particularly clean and dated. The food is so-so, Staff was friendly and accommodating and I give them full marks for working under difficult conditions. However, I would not return until they clean up their act.
Always great food and great service, have noticed that whenever my kids order a burger it's always burnt and not something that should be served. I don't usually notice it until after they are done and the burger falls apart.
Don’t listen to the other reviews on here saying that the service is bad. I have been there multiple times with multiple groups and everytime was better than the last. The food is delicious especially the burgers and chicken fingers. Our server last time, Sofi was incredibly kind and attentive. We even had one of the managers come check on us to make sure we were enjoying ourselves. He was a younger blonde gentleman. That kind of service is hard to find especially during this pandemic. I will continue to return to this Jack Astors weekly.
Prior to Covid, I would have rated this higher (4 or 5). Since covid they have slimed down their menu to only overpriced bar food. The service was terrible, the lady was rude and self centred. Greeting people with “wait” while the other employee at the door just stood there doing nothing for the whole night. We were never given water and had to ask twice as the server forgot. The margarita was full of salt (at the bottom of the drink), whoever made this has no idea what they are doing.Closed the patio dispute it being a beautiful day outside. And many other restaurants had their patio open.Only one single washroom, with a constant line.
Great place great service! Great staff, great management! Great chicken parm! Great booze! Great people! Great Randy!
I don't know if its because its a big successful chain but at this rate and the reviews I am seeing - it won't be much longer. They need to figure out their hostess stand - they are the FIRST people you encounter when entering the Resto and so far I am going to say they have all sucked in the last few months we have kept saying "lets give it a try - it cant be that bad again". Our servers have been quite nice so once seated we get over it quickly lol. Pad Thai here is always one of my favs - and consistent across all JA restaurants. Location is awesome with the patio overlooking the city hall and the square which is ideal in the summer when there are festivals and bands. This is definitely not our first choice in dining out in Kingston but a good "go to" if we are looking for something with a menu we can all agree on.
