Everything was great. Curry Original had been one of my faves for many years. So glad they have re-opened in new location!
Best Indian restaurant. Had a very good dinner tonight. Well cooked, very good taste in all curries. Naan was excellent too! Very well managed restaurant overall :)
We just moved to Kingston and we’re looking for some good Indian food. We did not find it here. Despite the bad reviews we gave it a shot and were so disappointed. The Aloo Gobi was a salt bomb and the Samosas were greasy and had no Indian spice!! We ordered garlic naan but found no garlic. Time to try the next restaurant!
Me and my friend went to have Nan and chicken korma. The worst korma I have ever had. It was soo sweet that we couldn’t eat it. When we asked about it the employee said that’s how it’s made. I wouldn’t recommend anybody to go there. It’s too expensive and not worth it.
We were excited to finally be able to eat at Curry Original. What a monumental let down. Let me preface this review by stating that my wife and I lived in the Gerard Street - Little India area of Toronto for almost 20 years. We KNOW Indian food. I understand that there are different flavours and ways of preparing dishes and I have to say Curry Original is NOTHING like ANY Indian food we have ever had. It was HORRIFIC! Every dish was wayyyy over salted and their “Butter Chicken”l was served in a sauce that had separated and curdled and was so sweet it was virtually inedible. When the host asked “…how everything was…” I very gently and politely told him that the butter chicken sauce had separated, it was too sweet and I did not enjoy it. (there was still 3/4 of left in the serving dish) He proceeded to tell me that this was how it was made, the way it is supposed to be and it was their most popular dish. Zero effort to make it right.I have attached a picture of the butter chicken where you can see the curdled sauce. I am disgusted by my experience at this restaurant.
Excellent food, great atmosphere, lovely owners. Very glad we selected this restaurant for dinner!
Fantastic Dinner. Chicken Jalfrezi was amazing!
The service was good and the restaurant is clean and comfortable. The food was delicious, but the chicken korma was VERY sweet; too much added sugar. And, the korma curry was a bit lumpy.
We like Indian food a lot and have eaten it in many places in many countries. We’ve visited Curry Original a number of times. Their food can be really good sometimes. Great naan and samosas. No complaints about the service. Price is average for this town. That’s why I gave it two stars. The issue is that we’ve eaten there twice when the food (one time lamb madras, the other chicken korma) was so sweet that it was inedible. It was like eating candies. If you look at some reviews here, you’ll find others have suffered the same fate. I cannot understand why they would do this.I think a restaurant can give you inedible food once. Everybody makes mistakes. When they do it twice, it’s time to find a new Indian restaurant.
TL;DR - threw this food out right away and ordered Indian food elsewhere. Needed my taste buds to forget this embarrassing take on Indian food.Saying this place is an extreme disappointment would be an understatement. As an individual from Toronto that has had the opportunity to try multiple takes on Indian cuisine, this ranks far below anything I've ever had. The expensive pricing (considering the quality of the food) is an additional kick in the gut. I feel bad for the people that think the food here is good - I assure you, this is NOT good Indian food.
