Been going to this location for over 20 years and never had a bad experience. The white fish and chips is almost always ready in 15 min and it's crispy and hot. The batter is what keeps us coming back week after week. People may complain about the service but you gotta understand that they hire students and oftentimes it's their first job, so cut them some slack.
Comparing this restaurant to other fish and chips establishments in the area:The quality of their food was one of the best! We ordered haddock and chips with a large coleslaw takeout. The fish had the right amount of batter and the chips were very crispy.The only complaint I have is that they only accept cash or debit. Like myself, most people like the option to pay with credit. Without this option, they could lose a lot of potential business. We may be back someday!
For a business that’s been around for as long as they have I would have expected better quality food. I ordered the halibut family dinner for five and to say I was very disappointed is putting it mildly. There was twice the amount of batter to fish ratio and it was tough to cut through and chew The fries were stale even though they just pulled them out of the fryer which tells me that they were probably precooked and dropped back in the fryer a second time around. I also ordered a side of fried pickles, mushrooms, coleslaw and gravy. All in all I spent close to $100 and didn’t enjoy any of it. I don’t think I’ll be going back and second time.
We’ve been here before and it’s been a while since COVID, it was Good Friday (the day before). First of all there’s usually a friendly order taker on duty, this day whoever this employee was (female with glasses and purple hair in pigtails) I found was a bit snippy, abrupt and not very nice in general. Ordered the large Halibut fish & chips, with an extra piece of halibut and an extra plate for my wife and to split the order in half at our table. The batter was tasty and light, but the fish was filleted so thin (not even 1/2” inch thick). The one large piece out of the 3 was almost hallow with a small amount of fish in it. Was going to take a picture (but wife advised me to just eat it). The fries were ok, nothing really special, it tasted like they were mixed with warmed up ones and fresh ones. Needless to say we were a bit disappointed, don’t won’t to dis any business, but they we’re very busy. Hit & miss?
Ordered two halibut and chips order came to just over $30 we took our food home to eat when we opened the box the fish portion was so small, barely any fish at all lots of batter and extremely dry. We were so disappointed.
This place has the absolute best fish-and-chips. The people working there worked so well together and everybody knows what they're doing.. The added experience helps immensely
Counter girl was rude said there’s seats sit down If I want to sit down I would but had sore back and standing was better. I’m excempt from mask with my breathing and by law sign on door said wear mask unless exempt and no proof required. She said need a certificate for proof. There was a elder man there on oxygen and wearing a mask on top of his other mask he heard me and said I can take this off I said yes you can. He did and said oh so much better,I can breath. That’s when I got a dirty look from the girl. Food wise fish was ok but fries and gravy both gross and couldn’t eat them. We will not be going back!!
On Jan 24th around 330pm I called and placed 3 separate orders of fish n chips. When I arrived the woman put fries in 1 box and 3 fish in another box.. I told her that when I placed an order of 3 fish and chips, that I'm expecting 3 boxes of fish and chips ..because the order is for 3 people.. me pointing that out immediately resulted in attitude and was told that next time I order I need to tell then to put my 3 separate orders of fish n chip's in 3 different boxes. Because that how they usually do things So as shes making more fries shes slamming everything and displaying poor body language.. when asked for more tarter souce which she only gave me 2, i was met with more attitudeamd was said she would have to charge me... furthermore to my understanding if someone orders 3 meals that should result to 3 boxes.. in covid times common sense should tell you to separate meals ..if someone orders 3 meals why would you put everything together..not to mention her trying to shorten me on fries.. because when I asked for them to be separated she had to make more fries.. so it's either she's lazy or they trying save money on fries.. it's quite clear my money isn't welcomed here anymore. If I didn't come here in the past I would of said these guys are racist but becaus3 I've been here several times I know that not Tobe true. Never will I support a small businesses that doesnt know how to treat customers, where customer service isnt a priority
Best place ever for fish and chips. I've come here for years whenever I'm in town and able to pop in. Fast service friendly staff and always an awesome meal.By far I think they're the best fish and chips in Hamilton. Thanks everyone!
Everything was really well done only downside was the halibut was to thin which made it dry. They hooked up quite the order extra sauces and we only sat for ten minutesRecommend the mushrooms with gravey and the golden dog. The Haddock is top notch!
