Clean and quiet restaurant with great food. The young man serving was attentive and patient when ordering. They have cold canned beverages (Coca Cola brands) and bottled water, I didn't personally check out the bar. The dinner package options are great if you like to load your own plate with the variety of food you get with it. Lots of appetizer options as well. Wonton soup was hot with fresh vegetables and meat, very delicious. All dishes were great. Nice atmosphere.

The Forbidden City, has new owner which I was unaware of.I made a pick-up order over the phone for sweet & sour sauce chicken balls anfour egg rollstotal:$22 & changeReasonableThe egg rolls were different and weren't for me, though I would still recommend them as they may just be the next best thing!Again it's hard to match up with the original chicken ball but amazingly they are a close second and to think...We are only on appetizers...Till next timeReview 2Review 1 revised

This was my favorite Chinese food place I've never had an issue like this before and I've never been disrespected by them before. I'm also a very generous tipper I'm disappointed by how they handled this issue. I ordered 6 spring rolls with vegetable mushroom chow mein total was 24.98 with tip paid online through their website, payment was withdrawn from my account but when I called to confirm my order as it was paid forbidden city restaurant said they didnt receive my order and said I had to contact the company I paid through, i explained it was their website and she said that's not possible. I asked if they can make my order since it was paid she refused to make the food and hung up on me. How do I get my refund?

New owners and the food just isn't the same. Missing that je ne ces quoi. General Tao is over battered and over cooked. Same sauce which is good. Rice falls flat and there isn't any underlying flavour(like the layers of taste). Also they added broccoli to the rice which was dehydrated and now gives it a different flavor all together. Beef in the beef and broccoli has the too much corn starch or whatever so you get a slightly gritty/clumpy texture on the beef. Pan fried dumplings use to come with chopped green onions in top and its own dip (not sure what it was but it was tasty)... this time no green onions and no dip. Overall it wasn't horrible... I've had worse but it's lost its touch and there isn't anything special either.

Ordered dinner for Wednesday and preordered on Monday, order was delivered. We had one person with shellfish allergies and the lady was very helpful, except for breaded shrimp the shrimp was eliminated from order, also ordered veg. fried rice and veg. lo mein and extra egg rolls, deliver charge was only $7.00 . The order came when we asked at 12:45. Excellent food and everyone enjoyed the meal. We had lots left over and some people took home food for an extra meal. Ordered 2 extra ribs and they were delicious.

Food was quick to deliver and they have all the typical food you’d be looking for… but the quality of the food was mediocre at best. The general chow was chewy and tasted like fried seafood. The chicken balls were over breaded and you had to eat through a 2 inches of thick batter. Everything was beyond greasy. Overall I wouldn’t order from here again

Always friendly staff (husband and wife normally) they offer larger portions with their own delivery (not through apps). Support that way if you can, it's so worth it with the bigger portions.Food is always consistent. We normally get as much as we can and live off of it till the next time we order :)

never tried forbidden city before. ordered two dinners, plus an egg roll and a spring roll. the rolls were amazing! the meal was off to a great start. however, the chicken fried rice had no observable chicken in it. it was also very mushy…almost like it had been prepared hours before then rehydrated with water. it had no taste, or chicken. and the texture was such that it shouldn’t be described as rice, and definitely not ‘fried’ rice. it was sooo wet. the beef with cashews had three small pieces of beef. it also had no cashews to speak of. it was all vegetables. for a dish with beef and cashews in its name, it should just be described as a vegetable dish. very disappointing. it had good flavour, but lacked the two most important ingredients. the chicken with vegetables was also disappointing for a similar reason. it had good flavour, but there were only three small pieces of chicken. again, it was all vegetables. chicken shouldn’t even be in the description. the chicken balls were good. i liked that the batter was light. the same with the general’s chicken. good batter. good cook. flavours were good. but, these combos as a whole were quite disappointing. the chicken fried rice certainly didn’t seem fried, and lacked chicken. the protein dishes with vegetables barely had any protein. i wouldn’t recommend the dishes circled in the photo. the egg roll and spring roll are very flavourful and a great value. avoid the dinner for one (a), and the dinner for one (b). i might try forbidden city one more time to see what a noodle dish is like. i don’t think i’ll try their rice again. it was quite terrible. i’ll be very disappointed if i try another protein dish and it’s all vegetables. delivery time was decent, and the food was hot. if only the food had been a bit better. i’m a 50/50 right now. i’ve had better in hamilton.

Until today I didn't feel like I had a solid, local, go-to Americanized Chinese restaurant - I am now going to consider Forbidden City that place. My husband and I were really impressed with the food - both the flavours and how everything was cooked. The shrimp and veggies were perfectly cooked, the sesame chicken was crispy, and the Singapore noodles had the perfect spicy kick (and a huge serving!). The pork buns and ginger beef were delicious. We really, really enjoyed our dinner and have very happy bellies. We will definitely be back
