I love coming here for a bite to eat at lunch time. The staff are super friendly and helpful and make the food right in front of you. There’s a great sized area to sit in to eat without feeling rushed. Prices are on the more expensive side, but the food quality and level of service more than make it for it!

I was happy to see all shelf dry imported products were obviously checked for their sell by date. There were no items past due date. This is excellent since it's been my experience that some stores who specialize in imported foods often have products which are out of date. The meat that is sold is highest grade. It's a bit more expensive than regular supermarkets but we'll worth it. The deli meats are excellent too and fresh since they sell a good amount and sales seem to be steady. I noticed that many are repeat customers and mention the name of the staff member they are speaking with. This store has a great caliber of sales staff and customer service is paramount. I needed an item from a higher shelf out of my reach. The person at the butchery came right over and got it for me. In a supermarket some staff would just pass by and only help if you asked them to. And that's if there happens to be a staff member actually on the floor. I frequent this store now and have never been disappointed .Linda Ryan

Every single person who works at this location is incredible!Always so friendly, and genuinely helpful. Seeing the staff enjoy their work makes a huge difference in the overall shopping experience.

It's been about 23 years since I visited the King Street East Denninger's store, but today while visiting downtown Hamilton, my wife and I took the time to visit for a quick lunch at their café. We sampled their Chicken Schnitzel and it didn't disappoint, so delicious. Due to time we didn't have a chance to look around the shop at all the international offerings. Always attentive and friendly staff is a testament to the same stellar management I remember. Belinda and her mother were famous hosts. Hope to get back before another 23 years passes! Convenient, free parking on site.

If you move away from southern Ontario, Denninger's will be one of those things you really miss. They are Hamilton's premier sausage-maker (raw & cooked), and have unique items like the North Tiroler ham. Everything from external suppliers (strudels, bread) is always highest quality and so is the extensive line of fresh, frozen, and ready-to-eat products made by Denninger's. The staff are all highly knowledgeable and usually go above & beyond when helping you.As for pricing, if you are a smart shopper and know prices, there are lots of competitively-priced items like Dimpflmeier breads, Melitta coffee filters, and Ritter-Sport chocolate bars - you'll have to look hard to find lower prices elsewhere, if you can find them. Other items you can get elsewhere are sometimes priced higher. Sometimes old favourites disappear (Danish pastry crowns with custard, please come back!) but even this original store location is quite consistent with the lines they carry despite the small store size. I hope they keep this location open because it is one of those things that makes living downtown worthwhile.

One of my favorite specialty food stores. I have shopped here since I was young. Try the chocolate-orange scones, the German marshmallow cookies or especially the Westfaler sausages.

A beautiful variety of baskets! They had a lovely display during Christmas time. This is definitely the place to go for a gourmet basket!

I shop at the mountain location but happen to be downtown. Needed 6 items. Only found 1. Was disappointed with selection at this location. Staff was excellent with helping me & explaining reason of limited selection. Overall excellent quality meats if you don't mind paying for quality.

Was very upset today as the buns I bought there are hard on the inside not just the outside. I thought they were like Italian buns hard shell soft inside. But there actually stale... There goes $10 because I bought a dozen. The lady at the deli whom sliced my meats today was too lazy to cut me fresh summer sausage I asked for thin and they had some precut. She said the precut was pretty thin. It was not at all. When I asked if they had cooked ham she was snobby and replied we have what's here you have to look. I spent $60 here today and am sad to say I will not be returning as I have wasted $30 because my coldcuts were not sliced as I asked and the buns were VERY stale and old...

Great food but way too overly priced now. Even bones for soup are so expensive. Sad I won't be shopping here too often anymore :(
