I came here for my birthday and it was simply amazing. Their bread is soft and delicious, the pizza and pastas are all super fresh. The vibes there were old school Italian and immaculate, this is the place to go if you want Italian in Hamilton. Well done to the owner and staff, all super nice and informative. Really recommend the mussels and the pastas
Tried their delicious pasta, pizza, cannoli and ended my dinner with tiramisu!Their menu is beautiful and their dishes are quite unique with burst of flavour! They have various vegetarian options which is great! Love the location, the vibe, especially the staff. We went there around 10ish after their closing time and we asked if they could accomodate us. The chef saw us and made an exception which was lovely! ?Highly recommend! ❤️??????
Fantastic Italian dining on trendy James North! Came here for a friend's birthday and their family style menu is fantastic. The apps, salads (kale salad with black cherries and pine nuts was amazing), pizzas (made in their gorgeous wood fire pizza oven) and pastas (especially the gnocchi with melt in your mouth brisket!) all impressed and probs were generous too. Highly recommend!
We had visited this restaurant once before and it was good but this time was excellent! Emily was an excellent server and other team members helped out as well. Everything we ordered/ate was amazing! The Nonna salad, arancini, gnocchi, veal, bucatini and focaccia...all perfect. We don't eat out much as we are almost always disappointed by the service or food but this experience will have us coming back again and again. Grazie!
Visited Castelli for our anniversary and I was blown away! The service was amazing, and the staff was so friendly and went above and beyond. But seriously, the best pasta EVER! Definitely my favourite Italian spot. You won’t be disappointed.
ReviewSo happy to finally have got in for party of 4. Everything from the pizza, appetizers, pasta, entrees and desserts were amazing. Hearty portions and beautiful presentation too. Thankfully there were 4 of us and we got to sample a little of everything (even the sample dessert board). Wine selection was very nice and cocktails were great too. Nice little gem in downtown Hamilton. Will definitively return to sample other menu items. Thx again!
Beautiful atmosphere with exposed brick and great lighting. Delicious food. We had the feature and calamari as an appetizer which excellent. Also had awesome red wine that we were able to recorck. This is a new favourite restaurant I can’t wait to visit again soon
Amazing food with a mediocre dining experience. Unfortunate. What could be a hot little spot is let down with an incoherent and bland aesthetic, and service that needs some maturity. Bargain bin artwork and garage sale kitsch can be great when done right, however it's application here seemed too lazy and uncurated. Lights were bright and the 80's rock playlist was reminiscent of singles night at Kelsey's, which is too bad, because the menu is anything but.The food menu that is. The other let down was the beer menu, or lack thereof, that included only one option - Peroni (not at all a bad option if you are to only have one). But to not even have any of that single-beer offering on a Saturday evening was another real letdown.Service was patchy - while our waiter and waitress were very friendly when they did eventually find their way to our table throughout our stay, it was too few and far between and my wife who chose to stick with water in the absence of any beer, was left thirsty and with an empty glass for most of the night. The food though, was superb. My wife ordered the arancini and I had the braised rapini - both were fantastic. The arancini was one of the best we had, and the rapini was perfect. The pasta was to die for. The handmade orechietti was perfect for building bites and getting that delicious sauce into your face, and the gnocchi was perfection and came with more beef shortrib than I would have expected. The only disappointment was a lack of fresh Italian bread to clean our plates with.Castelli Cucina has the culinary magic to be great - unfortunately that on its own does not make for an amazing dining experience. Service and ambience are what sets the stage for the culinary journey we are about to take any time we step into a restaurant, and it is with this that there seemed to be a disconnect. The ingredients are there, it just needs some polish. The pandemic has not been easy on anyone, not least those in the service industry. We will definitely be checking back in to Castelli Cucina to see how it has matured once the world has been opened back up for a while, and they have had a chance to get their game on. Tonight though, it was death by a thousand cuts...
We went here last night with our boyfriends and our mema and we couldn't believe our mouths, it was the most delicious Italian food we had ever had. The four cheese gnocchi almost knocked me off my rocker. Also the burrata, you could have warned us! Unfortunately when I got your email I accidentally left a 'sad face' review when I meant to leave a happy one, personally thought the sad face would be on the left and I moved too quickly and it was on the right. So here's me letting you know my meal at Castelli gave me a happy face. From the moment my server offered to make my gnocchi PURPLE (yes please!) to the bite of lamb that fell off the bone and melted in my mouth... and every taste in between just blew my mind. Thank you for all you do... you made our birthday gathering so special... the meal came out and our spirits were lifted... it was if we hadn't been apart for two years, and were once again brought together. 10/10, will return, will recommend.
Loved the restaurant, had the best server Fallon she is so hot
