We were a large work group of 14 people for lunch with a timeline. Gloria really looked after us. The food was excellent! Great atmosphere!
The food was sooo good! We tried the polenta fries, spicy shrimp spaghetti and Omar pizza. All tasted amazing! My only complaint is we sat near one of the washrooms that was out of order (we didn’t know prior to sitting) and kept getting wafts of sewage :( I will still go back though!
Started with the polenta fries - crispy with four different sauces for dipping. Gorgonzola was my favorite, followed by marinara. Shared a Chicken Parmesan with wife as main course. Just perfect! Pasta al dente and a crispy chicken breast covered with Marinara sauce and mozzarella cheese. Pasta sauce was spicy Marinara. No wine, went for a Pieroni Lager (473 can). Desert was flourless chocolate cake, also good. Service was attentive and with lots of good humour. We will be back for the pizzas for sure…
Great place for Lunch or Dinner. The restaurant's ambience is good and the people are very polite.We had ordered Chicken Parmesan, Spaghetti and meatballs and kids spaghetti (based on requirements they will prepare for the kids). Also we took the soup of the day ( potato cheddar soup).Overall the food was very good and we enjoyed them a lot. The quantity was good and the sauces and spices were perfect.
We went for lunch. The wait staff was friendly and it is a bright atmosphere, and paid municipal parking close. However, food was average. I had spaghetti and shrimp and there was very few shrimp. Pizza was average tasting, but a good size, enough to take home.
We came here to celebrate a friend's engagement and the service was friendly and fantastic. The brunch was good -- eggs on the benny was poached perfectly. The only little hiccup was the potatoes. It was crispy and had the perfect texture, but it lacked seasoning. I don't even think there was any salt on the potatoes and we had to douse it in hot sauce to make it somewhat flavourful.Would come here again to try the actual mains on the menu, and the breakfast pizza smelled SO good so definitely getting that next time!
Great food and service. They had a lovely atmosphere and a very healthy portion to cost. I would recommend sharing the lots of meatballs app, as they truly are a lot of meat balls. My fiance really liked the polenta fries.
I went to Caro on Ottawa last night for dinner as I have many times in the past. We usually love the food. This night the staff were very unfriendly. My sister had to flag down a waitress because nobody was coming to greet us/take our order. We both ordered the chicken parmesan. The chicken was delicious. Moist meat, hot and flavorful. The pasta was a sticky mess, with barely any sauce, and no flavor. We asked for some extra sauce. At the end of our meal, the waitress brought us approx. 1 tablespoon of extra sauce each. The waitress came over and asked if we wanted a take out container. We said yes, and packed up our chicken leftovers. When she returned she asked if we wanted the pasta. We said no it was gross. Sticky, tasteless, and not enough sauce. She just picked up our plates and walked away. She said something to another staff member on her way to the kitchen who looked at us and rolled her eyes. The waitress returned with our bills for the full price of our meal and was actually a little friendly at this point. Very disappointing experience. Will not be back. Lot's of other great spots to spend my dining out money!
Based on other reviews I feel like maybe we just came on an off night, but had to be honest with our experience. It was ok. The servers were friendly and polite, but seemed distracted even though the restaurant wasn’t busy. We found all the dishes we ordered to be on the bland side, and everything was lukewarm. Presentation was pretty but not necessarily functional. Things like fried calamari (which were tasty!) quickly become soggy when served on top of the corresponding sauce.
Very good service. They are walk-in only, so no need to make a reservation. Great customer service and plenty of paying parking nearby.We were a party of 3 and we had pasta, all of them were good, but truth to be told, the most savoury one was the short rib rigatoni ??I will try soon their James location.
