An early go-to pho spot in Vaughan is Pho Mi 99 because they are so convenient for takeout. Fast forward a year, we finally dropped by to dine-in. It's pretty much a family-run food hall, with trolleys of prepared dishes coming from the kitchen within minutes of ordering.Their well-done beef rice noodle soup had a decent pho broth base. It's a little on the oily side but the savoury soup taste that you want is there. The waitress was quite considerate, bringing scissors & a plastic bowl for the lil one w/o us asking (plus one star!). The grilled pork and spring roll on vermicelli was also on point. A bit skimpy on the grilled meat but the golden spring roll is very crispy with a thick batter that helps fill up your appetite. We thought perhaps they were having a slow evening with only 2 tables occupied in the large dining area when we arrived. However 20 minutes later, the place was pretty much packed to my surprise. Pho Mi 99 is a local favourite for cheap authentic Vietnamese eats.
Customer service from the cashier guy at the front cash was terrible, worst I've ever experienced. When we asked for the bill, he told us to walk up to the counter to pay. I told him I was paying cash. He rudely said "come up!" I was shocked that this kind of customer service still exist today. However, the waiter and the waitresses were kind got to credit them. They even apologized on the cashier guy on his behalf. My second visit to this pho restaurant and last due to the customer service.
ABSOLUTELY terrible terrible terrible.Prices on site do not relate to real prices.Staff does not care for you nor respect that you’re their guest. Cardboard on the floor - dirty environment- messy washroom.. poor poor poor flavours - I was so so upset especially because we brought our special niece but a very uneventfully lunch - I will never go there again...
The order size is much smaller comparing to any other pho restaurants. Also, meat is way less and soup just taste like water.
Fantastic Vietnamese foods, the true taste of tradition dishes. Highly recommended.
So, this is beside Vaughan Mills so pretty handy if you are shopping in the area. Note that despite signs to the contrary they were not checking covid passports of anyone...although that rule is coming to the end in a couple of days anyhow. We love Pho and have eaten at maybe 8 different places in the past. What makes the difference is the quantity, variety and quality of flavors. For a large bowl of Pho there was one relatively small sprig of basal, maybe 4 good size leaves and 5 very small leaves. Often we have gotten a large handful of herbs...not so here. so Pho was pretty bland. Bean sprouts were also very minimal. Llime....a very small corner of a lime. So soup was of average quality but the added flavor options were sorely lacking. Also had shrimp spring rolls...another favorite. Sliced in half shrimp, lettuce and noodles...no mint or other herbs...the blandest rolls I have ever had and I almost always order this as an appetizer. Last item, things were not very hot, not even the tea...first tiny cup was okay, the next was cold, the Pho was warm but not hot so by the time you got through half of it, it was room temperature.
PROS: pho was brought to my table in less than 2 min and flavour was good.CONS: service was less than pleasant, raw sprouts were old, didn’t check for vaccination status.I came in because my usual spot (Picko Lime) was closed today… And I definitely won’t be returning.
At PHO Mi 99 越南粉 they don't give you glasses for your water. They want you to use your tea ceramic cups which you drink tea out of and they refused to serve glasses (even when you have tea inside of it). You have to ask more than once and insist after the third time! The pho here has no flavour and the food is bland! Don't come here!!! Poor service overall!!!
Good food good price ???? happy to come back here!
