Will try again. Pop was flat, chicken was over spiced. Our waitress was lovely and we felt terrible complaining.Nachos were delish! Liver and onions were perfect.
Tried this place for the first time. Staff was good but forgot the appetizer. Beer was fine but our food wasn’t so good. Chicken fried chicken was very bland, no herbs or flavour. Over-cooked as well and hardly any chicken. The table next to us had the butter chicken and said the food was okay when asked but bland. Also no music playing at 7:30 on a Saturday night. I would return for beer only if they would play music.
Let me start off by saying the staff was so delightful and the service was great! Food was okay! I had the Fish & Chips. The fish was good but missing a little something (I think it has something to do with the seasoning). Otherwise, their fries are sooooo bomb ???. They remind me so much of the Burger Priest fries. My husband was saying that his was okay as well. Again, something was missing with his fried chicken in regards to flavour and texture. Overall, I would come back as their food wasn’t bad and was super affordable, the atmosphere was great, and I would love to try their shepherds pie! The flavour of our dishes was the only reason I docked a ⭐️.
I am loathe to write negative reviews, but having given The Squire 3 opportunities to at least apologize, and with no response AT ALL, I am going to share my experience. A few nights ago I ordered dinner for my family of 4 for take out. As part of the order there were 2 Caesar salads, 1 Garden salad and a Jerk Chicken Wrap, which was meant to come with a sauce, as without it, it was just some dry chicken and veg on a naan wrap. When we opened the bags, there were no salad dressings, nor was the sauce for my wife’s chicken wrap Included. I called the restaurant to let them know, and whom ever answered the phone just said- “Okay, I’ll let the kitchen know” and told me the other line was ringing and she had to answer it. That was it. I have since sent two messages through the online contact us form, and no one has bothered to reply. So- they’ve lost a local customer all because they could not be bothered to apologize.
Had a great time at Squires. The quesadilla was terrific and apparently so was the burger my sister got and the gluten free bun. Sweet potato fries were also absolute perfection and that is a really good indicator of how good the rest of the food will be.
As long time patrons of the Squire we are saddened to see the collapse of service that has affected this once fine restaurant. the food has gone from superb to less than mediocre and the table service is nothing like it used to be, no warmth and riddled with mistakes in ordering the food. Sadly it is like watching an old friend slowly erode away, a mere shadow of what was there before. servers of marvelous character such as Jess have moved on, replaced by sullen servers who seem there just to punch in time. The food has also taken a hit in quality, nor sure if Lightfoot has moved on or not but it sure seems like whomever is running the kitchen now needs a shake to rouse them from their stupor. Will we go back for another try? Perhaps, but it is starting to feel a lot like strike three.
Was there tonight for a Mother's Day dinner with my family The atmosphere was good. Very friendly and low key. Service was fantastic. Our server was polite, friendly, and made sure we always had what we needed. There was too many of us to go over all the different foods we had but out of 7 no one had any problems. My chicken fried chicken was delicious! Would definitely recommend.
Excellent traditional British breakfast with beans, sausages and eggs. Unlimited coffee. Substituted my toast for gluten free bun. Lots of regulars here too. Lots of TV screens at the bar for those who follow sports.
Enjoyed the food and atmosphere. Disappointed to find out that we could not use the gift card we brought because the new machines "were not yet programmed." We were really surprised to be denied using it. Soured the whole experience.
Stop there for supper , on our way home from Toronto.First time there. Had the chicken pot pie and the chicken fried chicken .Complements to the Chef, food was excellent.Service was great.Go back there again for sure.
