Food is good but takes over 2 hours to get delivered!!
idk is it that it's so familiar? so comforting to know that some places never change? I've been going here for 20 years, not as often as I could have but when I do the experience is perfectly the same, no decline in quality just.. exactly like I remember.... maybe I should order something other than the Singapore noodles (and honestly you need to try them, spicy? not super dry but crispy and like it could have been an excellent soup but never made it into a pot of stock)... a place worth coming home to
Warren, Margaret and Peter always do an amazing job!...I have been visiting this restaurant since 1974....never dissapointed...It is our "go too" place for consistantly great food!
Good food at reasonable prices. Diverse menu and good service. On street or parking out back.
A restaurant (and neighborhood) who's best days are clearly behind it. Staff is friendly but dining in isn't even an option these days (you wouldn't want to). Their take out is passable Chinese fare when they actually get your order right without what seems to be frequent mixups or omissions. Hard to believe in this era there is a Chinese restaurant that won't throw in a couple free fortune cookies with your order but Oriental is that place.Definitely AVOID the honey garlic spare ribs which arrive in some kind of offensively over-sauced soup.Definitely TRY the won ton soup which almost no other places get right these days. Oriental's won ton soup is traditional style and delicious!
I've gone to the Oriental periodically for over 40 years. It's unpretentious, friendly with good, reliable food. It's not contemporary or particularly authentic. It's Chinese-Canadian comfort food. Always hot and tasty. The chicken broth, the base for most of their soups, is the best I've had in any Chinese restaurant anywhere. Just thinking about I can taste it right now! The Oriental is a Brantford institution. And rightly so.
Definitely best Chinese food I've ever had. It's always my go to, literally won't go anywhere else aha. My only complaint is sometimes it can take up/over an hour to get a hold of them and get your order in due to the line being busy.. but I also sort of get it because the food is really good

Best Chinese food around. Staff is extremely friendly and always polite. My hat goes off to each and everyone of them.
Ignore the naysayers on this site, the Oriental is excellent where it counts -- the food and the service. All at reasonable prices! If you go for lunch, for example (and our COVID rules allow it) you'll usually have your lunch in less than 10 minutes of ordering it. Who can ask for more in a sit down restaurant? Let's support and honour our local businesses folks!
