Not authentic Portuguese chicken. I grew up in downtown Toronto and would try quite a few legitimate Portuguese chicken joints with my Portuguese friends, so I have a good idea what authentic Portuguese chicken is, and this place ain't it. I'm new to Aurora, so perhaps once upon a time this establishment was owned by Portuguese, but now it seems to be operated by Chinese there for I would consider this Chinese imitated Portuguese chicken. My potatoes were burnt. My chicken was dry. The flavour was okay, nothing spectacular. Dare I say it, I'd probably choose Swiss Chalet over this place again. The hot sauce was good. The sweet sauce was oily and bland. The rice was good. Overall, overpriced for what you get. It's okay chicken, but it's definitely not Portuguese Chicken.
Great place, tasty and flavorful. Nice portions and always a guest pleaser at our house.Keep it up!
Looks like new owners. Was here last week. Service was awful…they made me wait approx 30 min while they served chicken for themselves to eat.The worst was while waiting for my food the guy making it used his bare hands to put more chicken on the grill. After doing so he merely rinsed his hands with just water. With his dirty hands he then touched the container my food went into. I was disgusted and couldn’t eat the food from the container. Such unsafe food handling. To not throw it out I re cooked the food. I’ll never go back.
I've been here a few times previously and enjoyed the food everytime. Seems like a seamless transition to the new owners to me as the food continued to taste great! One of the few local run businesses that still offer delicious food at an affordable price.
I was excited to try the steak sandwich and unfortunately it was not what I expected for the price. First of all, I got it in between 2 wonder bread toasts, not even a fluffy bun. 2nd the stuffing was a mesh of steak and veggies and the Flavour was Meh. Last but not least the customer service was uptight and unfriendly. I’d give them a second chance if the service was friendlier. And yes they did know it was my 1st time!
New owners, the pulled chicken sandwich is ruined, tastes so different and bland and they seem very disorganized. Could this be the death of one of my favourite takeout places in town? I do not recommend so far
Not going to lie, these other negative reviewers seem a little precious. I own and run 2 hospitality businesses and think it’s a little naive and unnecessary to write reviews that assume/judge that staff are unvaccinated, and somehow that makes it okay to give a 1 star review. Poor form from them, maybe they need a fresh dose of compassion.Anyway, I went there with my girlfriend tonight for the first time, we usually frequent another Portuguese chicken shop further north but wanted to try this place out. We were super impressed. Chicken was fresh, tender and reminded me of charcoal chicken from home. Sauce was delicious and the potatoes and veggies were great too. The potatoes aren’t “burnt” as other reviewers claim, they are seasoned and baked to bring out crispness.I’m thinking the owners have sold the business and transitioning to new owners. Good for them, it’s always a tough time when this happens. I’ll be going back, was a great experience and love supporting local businesses instead of mass chains.
A pretty solid place for lunch takeout, I recommend the chicken sandwiches. Please be advised that the sandwiches can get very messy, very quickly. It will for sure drip all the juices of the chicken/oil/sauce and WILL stain. This place gets busy around lunchtime. So be sure to call 10-15 min ahead of arrival to preorder.Due to the size of the location, you can often see boxes of inventory laying around the front area. It makes the restaurant feel smaller and cluttered. At the moment it doesn’t feel like you can eat inside the restaurant, they have a stand up bar style table which faces the windows.I got the chicken sandwich which was juicy and dripping, flavour is great and texture as well! I feel like the peri peri sauce should be included with the sandwich on the side.
I hope this place never goes away. Tasty affordable meals of the highest quantity. Their rice pilaf and potatoes are my favorite sites but they are all amazing and comes with generous portions.
Find this place by Google reviews, My wife and I ordered food from this place. By far it was the worst experience that I ever had.Very bad quality, burnt, and it was a waste of money. Do not go to this place at all.Just look at the picture and it says it all.
