Ajax has been blessed with this establishment. I had the beef Patty with a coco bun. Out of this world!! The beef Patties are hand made in house. The filling seasoned to perfection. I also got the Jerk chicken with peas and rice and there veg. The jerk chicken is tender, moist and packed with flavor and that's me under selling it. If I really told you how I felt about the jerk chicken I'd be banned from Google for using inappropriate language. It's just too good. The veg that came with it was amazing, cooked in coconut milk from what I understand. It pairs well with the chicken and get themhot sauce on the side. you need a little heat, trust me.
Customer service- top notch!Food was unfortunately not that great, we got jerk chicken dinner, curry chicken roti and a patty (was the last one left). The rice with the jerk chicken dinner had bones in it (didn’t finish the meal) and the patty was really puffed up with not a whole lot of filling. Definitely willing to give this place a 2nd try though, only because the guy at the front was so polite and such a breeze to talk to.
This place was great. The food was good, however the service was spectacular. We ordered take out, an unfornately at the time we couldn't dine in, but would've loved too. This family owned restaurant is special. They were courteous, organized, knowledgeable, kind, efficient and really just the nicest people on the planet. So glad we found this gem. And try their take on plantain. So ? good.
On March break 2022 we popped in for dinner. We were greeted and seated by a lovely woman. The oxtail, jerk pork, and jerk chicken were all amazing. The restaurant was very clean, and the washroom was exceptionally clean as well. The food was wonderful and very reasonably priced. We will be returning for sure.
Never tired it before but oxtail rice and peas with the cabbage!! Amazing, I value great customer service and Zac provides an excellent experience which goes above and beyond. Food is amazing and while you there! Please buy their pepper sauce!! It’s the ? ? kudos to Zac
It was my first time at Tropical Delight this evening, and I had the pleasure of being served by Zack, who was the friendliest server I've had in a long time. The food was also fantastic--especially the jerk meatballs and curry goat.
Stopped in to grab some lunch.The woman who owns this restaurant is truly special. Kind, welcoming. Overall just wonderful service.The jerk was great. I love when it has some spice to it. I find most jerk in durham quite sweet. Beautiful flavours and fresh food.The fried dumplings are the best I have ever tried. Not greasy. Flakey. Heavy but light at the same time.Will return for sure!
Just dropped in to pick up some warm spicy food for lunch and oh man! No disappointments here! The jerk pork is so so good! Perfect spiciness. Great with the curried potatoes and the cabbage! I'm coming back! Thank you!
Carmen is a lovely lady at the very first interaction. She walked me through the different types of food items and the deals. I was welcomed with a promotional Patty+drink on the house. The patty was great, nice and filled. I got the menu item with chicken, and I was debating between the jerk chicken and barbecue chicken, so Carmen was kind enough to let me try both. That along with rice and peas hit the spot! Chicken was delicious, spicy, moist, with a lot of flavours. I was full after the meal and the price is very reasonable. I will be going back for sure, and will try all the menu items. Thank you for great food and excellent service!
First off, the people that own/run this restaurant seems like kind, genuine people which obviously flows into the flavour & ambiance of the restaurant. I realized that I want to come back with a group to eat in, although I expected it to be a mostly takeout operation. I went in only for a soup, which turned into 2 soups & I couldn’t help it but the smell was amazing. Ordered some jerk side dishes, biscuits, cookies. The food is amazing. Daily specials & weekend dishes…I’ll be a regular.
