Seen some great reviews so I thought I’d check out the place. The customer service was great. This was my first time at Zen I did a take out order. I had the chilli chicken with fired rice both were burnt and had the black bun up pieces mixed up in everything. The fried rice with chicken on top not so good, the chicken had no taste and was a bit to red in colour for me the fried rice only had carrots and beans. Wasn’t happy at all I ended up through the food away.
I have been wanting to try this place for a while and Finally Yesterday I got the opportunity. I tried the chili chicken on Chicken Fried Rice and what can I say I loved the whole meal. Everything is so tasty and as being abit, of a picky eater with peppers I didn't feel the peppers at all, the whole disk completes and blends out. I hope to return sometimes soon and try some other dishes on the menu. Also while on a side note the the staff is super friendly and absolutely amazing and if you want the food to be extra spicy you can ask to add an extra kick to the dish. But be warned I was told customers who ask for it to be more spicy tend to not order it that way again ?. My recommendation is to keep it orginal because I loved all the flavours.
This restaurant was highly recommended by a friend for the catering service for my birthday party, so I made the call.I was told by the restaurant, that the large vegetable Chow mein and Fried rice was good for 15 to 18 people per tray, but these people don't play! The trays were filled mountain high with deliciousness ?.The large trays of cut up fried chicken and fried chicken wings were filled to the brims. OMGoodness!The half tray of huge Pepper ? Shrimps and mix Chinese vegetables was mouth watering delicious! Surpassed my expectations!I had catered for 30 guests but there was more than enough food for 180 people, or more, without a doubt! (Depends upon your guests appetite)I had to ask my guests to pack food to go to last them for a week, or so.They were excited because they were extremely happy with the taste and presentation of all the dishes.They even asked for the information of this restaurant for future orders and visits.The price was right, way cheaper than other places that had given me quotes, before this restaurant was highly recommended.I was convinced that this was my go to place, because during the 7 minutes while talking to Lake about my order, the other phone rang 4 times with him taking 4 orders from other customers. I smiled about that, knowing that they were doing something right!On the day of the party, the female order desk had a friendly voice when she made a kind reminder call to say that the food was ready for pick up. I told her that we're on our way.Thank you all at Zen Restaurant for making my birthday event an enjoyable, memorable one and your food was a hit as well.Keep up the good work guys!
Order of Pepper shrimp & wings dry spicy pepper.Amazing best ever, if there was an extra star they would get 6 (facts) and don’t forget about the service. Quick and efficient if you ain’t tried it! Go have some food there! Quality over quantity.
I had to make a last minute catering order 24hrs only because my previous caterer cancelled on me last minute. They honestly came through and was able to do my order on time and the food was amazing. Everyone at the gathering loved the food especially the pepper shrimp they had the perfect amount of spice. Thank you so much for helping me last minute food was amazing. I ordered the veggie chow mein, veggie spring rolls, deep fried wings, and pepper shrimp and everything was finished at the end of the event. Everyone took home left overs. I will definitely order from here again. Customer service was also amazing. The girl that helped me on the phone was honestly amazing and very patient with me. Thank you again ??
I've been going to Zen for months now. Their rice and noodle dishes are delicious and plentiful. I recently discovered that they have very reasonably priced lunch specials (Tues-Fri) that I've been getting at least 3x a week and can honestly say has never disappointed. Very friendly staff and a welcoming and comfortable atmosphere when dining in.They seem to be always out of Jerk Chicken however. Not sure if that's because it's a popular item or simply a restocking issue. In any event, wish they had a larger menu offering to compete with other Caribbean restaurants in the area. Great tasting food regardless.
I ordered 3 items, chilli chicken Cantonese noodles(because of the Facebook adds), special fried rice and wings. You can't really go wrong with wings and fried rice, but here you can. Not only in flavour/taste but overall cost.I wanted to try this place for my birthday. I frequently go to west Indian Guyanese/Chinese places and I figured this place was piping up on my FB feed, worth giving them a try.I ordered deep fried wings, special chicken fried rice, and chilli chicken Cantonese noodles. When I got home, I noticed 3 containers of pepper sauce quarter way filled; thought maybe times are tough(let's make it back via pepper sauce...) Really, no need to be that stingy. Embarrassing, that alone upset me.Then we tried the food.Fried rice was terrible, in comparison to other similar restaurants it did not compare in any form. Chicken was stale, veggies clearly Frozen; very expensive for a bland stale dishWings were okay, no argument thereThe chilli chicken Cantonese noodle was terrible. I think anyone on the street could have created it, nothing of anything that was flavourful or unique about it. Noodles under fried, chicken tasteless...no need to further elaborate.I bought 3 containers for $50Next day(today) did my birthday. Went to spicy dragon, got 2 orders of veggie fried rice, 2 orders of Hakka chowmein and 3 orders of chilli chicken for $65... completely better deal and taste ....I would NEVER go here againI feel stupid for thinking this was goodI guess I fell victim to the algorithm
The food was amazing! The pepper shrimp was to die for no holding back on the hot sauce. Pineapple hot sauce tasted delicious on my fried rice. Definitely would be back . Is open during lock down . Following all public health guide lines . Opens at 12:00 noon .
Top notch Carribean Chinese food. Pepper shrimp, chili chicken and their house mixed rice with chicken on top is amazing. Can't wait to try their spicy beef next time. Definitely a go to if you're in Durham.
The food was absolutely delicious. Service was awesome and friendly. One of the better experiences I’ve had in a long time. Would highly recommend this to anyone. Can’t wait to go back IR order in. Keep up the great work!
