A great neighbourhood pub. I found the patio really comfortable. They have a good portion covered with a party tent what helps in keeping a good amount of shade. I'm very impressed by the large selection of food on the menu with a lot of pub standards, classics you don't see as much anymore, and interesting new options. It tasted really good too. Good selection of beer on tap. I'm going to return here again - I enjoyed it.
Our first visit at this pub located close to downtown Ajax. It's located in a strip mall beside McD's.When we entered the place was quite empty. Most diners were on the patio. We chose for the air conditioning indoors.It took some time for a server to come by and take our order. Another server who was handling the patio came by to check on us and took our order.My wife ordered pork souvlaki dinner and I ordered the daily special which was any pasta entree for $13.95. I ordered the seafood curry pasta which came with lobster, black tiger shrimps and scallops. Two slices of Garlic bread were served with the pasta. The bread was foccacia and could have been toasted more. It was a big soggy. The fettuccine was cooked al dente and had enough of the curry coconut cream sauce. There were quite a few pieces of lobster and scallops and 3 tiger shrimps. I thoroughly enjoyed my pasta and cleaned the plate.My wife's order was entered incorrectly as the other server miscommunicated our order and gave his chicken souvlaki. We didn't say anything as it wasn't a deal breaker or anything. The chicken was not souvlaki grilled skewers. It was basically marinated chicken breast chopped into pieces to make it seem like souvlaki chunks. Not an authentic greek dish but for a pub we shouldn't have such high expectations . The rice pilaf was bland and dry with some frozen carrots bits on top. The greek salad could have had more dressing, feta and red onions. My wife didn't enjoy her as much. We did end up finishing the meal.Overall, not the greatest first impression for us. Maybe it's an off day here. It's long weekend and staff were not motivated to work. Service was barely adequate. When we got the bill we paid cash and the server stayed by the table while we were giving the tip. Not proper etiquette. We still tipped well as we know servers depend on the tips to supplement their income. We probably won't come back due to wife's order was underwhelming.
We love this place. Always clean and food is reasonably priced. Never ordered anything I didn't enjoy.
Tried this place for the first time today. Our server Amber was polite, funny and attentive. We ordered the Irish nachos with butter chicken... Amazing! We planned on ordering mains but we were so full after the nachos we couldn't find the space, guess that means we'll have to come back ? Great hangout spot in Ajax and the prices are fair as well.
Mackenzie Pub & Restaurant!This place is a fun spot to meet and eat Drink and be Merry ..The staff are fantastic and the food is delicious and the portions are amazing..I have been there quite a few times and I have never ever been disappointed nor have any of friends.. . I will always go back as long as their food stays solid and the staff stay cool ?. ?Cheers ?

Another awesome dinner out! Staff makes the experience that much better- you feel welcome from the time you enter until you're ready to leave. The fish I had was breaded with a light crisp coating. It was delicious. My amazing dinner partner had chicken strips tossed in hot sauce. It was excellent. This place continues to be a favourite of ours!
Last night I treated my wife with a surprise birthday dinner. We were blown away by the portion sizes. Our eyes were definitely bigger than our stomachs! The burgers were great! Poutines were HUGE. My daughters loved the wraps. It came out quick and hot. Our waitress was very attentive and extremely friendly. She even went above and beyond to make sure my wife felt special. Dessert with a candle and singing . It was a nice gesture and made for a great birthday moment. We have been here a few times in the past, but last night was definitely one of the most memorable experiences dining out that I've had in a long time. I would recommend.
I had a medical exemption to not wear a face covering, doctor’s orders and the owner would not honour it. He acknowledged that he understood the policy set out by the province allows for medical exemptions but basically said he’s too worried about other customers complaining that he is willing to go against the rules. Waitresses were nice but this owner is spineless. He came to our table after I confronted him on the issue trying to explain his position (with his mask off), which is he’s trying to keep everyone happy. First and last time I’m going there. I’ll try one of the other many other bars in the area next time rather than support someone who is willing to go against the rules because they are too weak to do the right thing.
If you’re a Coconut Shrimp and Sandwich lover you have to check out Mackenzie Pub located in Ajax. I love love my steak sandwich and chicken Parmesan. It was absolutely delicious, flavourful and yummy. The spice was balanced and the service was great. We will be back for more.
