Back when I was still in Ajax, I ordered from Canbe on Ubereats a lot. Their portions are generous, prices are cheap, and all their food is either amazing, or is at least on par with other places (i.e. the butter chicken is the same as any other places I've had it).But their samosas and their eggplant curry? To die for! I still dream about that silky, rich, and savoury caramellized eggplant curry to this day and can't find anywhere in Toronto that makes it the same way. Despite how cheap their samosas are, they are legitimately the best samosas I have ever eaten.Plus, their service is fantastic. Every time I ordered from them they would give me a separate baggie of treats with a thank you note. I really miss this place ):
I don't know what has happened to this place lately it used to be great. They must have changed cooks or something because the food is bland and tasteless now. The mutton rolls now contain some unidentifiable paste and the mutton Curry is full of fat instead of meat like before.. I went for lunch the other day and the "hot' able items were not even remotely warm! I had a bad experience with them a few months ago but decided to give them another try suffice to say I will not be back.
Went there today and bought three masala dosa along with some appetizers . The service was horrible, we waited for over 20 mins and when we asked how much longer it would be to make 3 dosai the lady at the counter started talking back saying that the whole store only has one dosai pan and didn’t even bother to apologize for the wait .When we ate the dosai we realized the tomato chutney was just ketchup mixed with some spice , the coconut chutney was nearly spoiled same with the SambharI had avoided going to Canbe in the past due to bad customer service experiences at the Scarborough location but decided to give this location a chance because it’s close by . After this experience I would rather starve than try getting food at any location of Canbe
Worst biriyani and noodles - mutton biriyani and chicken noodles was just bland. Learned a lesson never ever go to these restaurants which does not specialize in Biriyanis.Their short eats and pastry items are better though.
Worst kothu roti I had ever eaten. It was horrible that I took a bite and threw it out. The only good thing here is the veggie samosas
The samosas are never consistent with the spice level which is good in a way cuz every samosa tastes different but bad because you'll easily eat 6 - 8 samosas without realizing it! The mutton rolls are basically potato rolls with the odd shred of meat if you get lucky! Basically it's a hit or miss depending on the day and time you go!
The food is tasty. While I have definitely had tastier food, this restaurant is certainly not bottom of the barrel. Also very reasonably priced
I can not Express this enough. I am very very disappointed with canbe foods. They changed their menu during our pandemic and I can't order what I have been ordering for the past 8 years. I will not bring my business their way any longer. I would order a combo plate 4 days out of 7. They now have a new combo and it's very very disappointing. Shame on them for doing this.P.s when I went to reheat in microwave this is what 45 seconds did.....UPDATE 14 MONTHS AFTER REVIEW. THE MANAGER REFUSED TO RETURN MY CALLS. THE COMBO OPTIONS ARE STIL THE SAME. SO IN CLOSING HAVE NOT RETURNED AND WILL NEVER RETURN.
The samosas are good and a fair price , but I’d stay away from most of the other food . Was served raw chicken today
Highly recommend the mutton Biryani and really everything else at Canbe Foods. Lots of flavourful food at very reasonable prices.
