Looking for a place near our hotel for lunch, we decided to try the Wooden Monkey. The food is organic and the menu varied. My husband and I ordered the sweet apple salad and he added chicken to his. My daughter ordered the Koren Tacos. Although my salad was delicious, I wish I had ordered the tacos as they were wonderful and I was lucky enough to get a bite. We ordered beer and soft drinks. As you can see we didn't have a big bill. When it was time to leave, it started pouring rain and our waitress came over to say that we should feel free to stay as long as we needed until the rail cleard up.

We ate at the bar and enjoyed talking to the bar tenders. We've never seen a restaurant staff work so well together. We had hummus and bacon wrapped scallops. The scallops were so delicious, we ordered a second round! The vanilla pudding was also very delicious! It was busy, reservations recommended.

I had been going to this restaurant relatively frequently before COVID as I work just around the corner. I was excited to take my staff out to the Wooden Monkey as it had been a while since we had been our as a team - and I was disappointed. The server was friendly but the quality of the food was not what I had expected. My lamb burger was cold, it was more expensive than I recall, and if you ask for Mayonnaise, they'll charge you for it (penny & diming is not the way to reintroduce customers). My staff were not that impressed either ...

Absolutely loved this place. As a vegan with an omni partner, we were both impressed. We came 2 nights in a row. I had a seitan wrap of some sort one night and tonight a vegetable curry bowl with tofu (pictured) with machos with vegan cheese for the appetizer. Bf first night had a braised beef dish and tonight did a personal sized pizza. If we lived here in Halifax, we'd be regulars!

I went to the wooden monkey for supper before going to a concert and my meat lovers pizza was awsome. And the service was great too.Cant wait until my next visit.

My sister and I ate here twice in June 2022. My sister has to avoid gluten, which made this restaurant a treasure. The servers were friendly and knowledgeable and the food was delicious! We had the “fried” fish from the lighter fares menu. It was a huge portion of fish, perfectly cooked and very fresh. The potatoes were yummy and their take on coleslaw was very tasty. We also had the fish cakes which were also very enjoyable and very fresh tasting. It was so good we had nachos at their Dartmouth location another day. I just wish they had Wooden Monkey t-shirts.

I visited the Wooden Monkey while on vacation in Halifax. I liked the idea that the food options available were organic and sustainable. I had two Korean tacos and a French onion soup. The flavour of the tacos was outstanding and I thoroughly enjoyed every bite. The soup was equally delicious; it came with several large pieces of garlic toast sitting in the soup which made it a little difficult to get to the liquid but this was a minor inconvenience balanced out by how delicious the toast was. Because everything is organic or locally sourced, the menu is a bit pricey but don't let this deter you from visiting. I'll definitely pay this restaurant a visit again if I'm ever back in Halifax.

We have eaten here many times. The food is great, as is the service.

Chicken pita was fresh and tasty. Servers were friendly. Service was efficient. Would eat here again!

The food here is sure to please adults and kids alike. The idea here is sustainable locally sourced food. They also have a great selection of draft beers
