The atmosphere was amazing, the bartender was kind and has a good amount of bar flair which made it seem like he knew what he was doing.My only real concern with this location is the prices on their website don't match their menus! Everything is about ~$2 more expensive than what is listed.I got two drinks which were both wonderful albeit a tad pricey. Also got the pulled pork sliders which were DELICIOUS-- but only bite-sized! I expected a bit more for $12. The sweet potato soup was also lovely.I'll definitely have to be back to sample some desserts and try some more of their extensive cocktail menu.
We came for a little cocktail and dessert. Some things were unusual, like the almost impossible to read in lighting, a sticky table despite almost no customers, and receiving one of four biscuits rock hard. I assume the lighting is intended to create a romantic late night atmosphere but I personally thought it pushed it a little far. I did appreciate the softness of the environment though, you could hold a conversation at a reasonable volume.I appreciate that the selection of desserts was minimal, and because we came here because that was their specialty that’s what we tried. Nothing was absolutely phenomenal but nothing was a let down (other than the rock hard biscuit).The real star of the evening was a lovely warm cocktail that paired very well with the pavlova.Overall it was rather expensive and nothing amazing.
If you're looking for good drinks, dessert and conversation the secret bar is the place to go.However - the customer service we received most recently can only be described as uncomfortable. The manager/bartender was noticeably grumpy and made me feel very unwelcome- I was trying to subtly hurry the people I was with to finish their drinks so we could leave. I felt awful considering I'd raved about this place after a previous positive experience.If you go avoid later at night when your bartender will glare at you for laughing and actively avoid or rather refuse giving advice/recommendations on their menu.

Great food with great service. The whole aesthetic is also super cute. I would go here twice a week if I could get away with it.
We couldn’t get dessert when we went for dinner but found the middle spoon and it was just what we were looking for. Chocolate lava cake was delightful and peanut butter pie looked pretty damn good too!

Last year, before the pandemic was declared, we purchased 2 tickets on Feb 24, 2020, to attend a Blind Bartender Competition at the Middle Spoon, which was scheduled for March 24, 2020.On March 17, 2020, the owner Lacey Doherty sent a mass email to ticket holders (not only to the Blind Bartender Competition, but also two Fondue night events) and stated that she will keep everyone updated, will set a new date for this now-cancelled event, and is more than happy to issue a refund should the rescheduled new date not work.Fast forward 19 months to October 2021.There has been no communication in the past 19 months whatsoever about a new date for the Blind Bartender Competition.I emailed her on October 19, 2021 asking for a refund. She did not respond. (In contrast, when I emailed last year inquiring about the competition and how to pay, she responded right away).I subsequently left two message with her staff on two different nights. The excuse I received about why Lacey hasn't called back was "Oh she's busy hiring and training staff".No one is THIS busy. She’s had more than enough time (19 months) to either re-schedule the event, or issue a refund. Pretty sure she's deliberately withholding refunds, or perhaps she's already spent the money we paid her for the event on something else.***Update*** I received my refund on Nov 10, 2021. Issue has been resolved.
