What a terrific experience....I arrived when they were just opening, the Chef was taking time to clean the glass coolers that house the fish .... he was being really mindful, a good thing to witness. The service was attentive. Its a welcoming space with tables and booths and the restaurant was filling up with a number of Asians...also a good sign. I ordered Tuna Tatami and the tempura vegetables...both were delicious. This restaurant deserves a return visit ....I highly recommend it.
The sushi you must try in Halifax. This was the best Japanese food we had during our trip to the east. We used to have a nice sushi dinner in St. John's which I thought should be the best but obviously I was wrong. You shouldn't miss sashimi, unagi pizza as well as the hidden menu. Ramen was also good and kids loved so much.
I heard nothing but amazing things from people who have eaten here, so I gave it a try while in town, and I was amazed! This is by far the best seafood ramen I've ever eaten! The ingredients were all great quality and you could tell with every bite! I had the sushi as well, and it was the same amazing experience! We ate here both days of our trip because it was that good! Great friendly staff and a nice atmosphere!
Dinner for eight. Service was very good. The sushi was good as was the sashimi. This is pretty good Japanese food . The odd dish missed the mark but that is common for Japanese restaurants in North America. The cost was a bit high for the food. I would return again.
Kevin & Christine were absolutely amazing anytime we went in to eat. My husband and I met in 2013 and we lived in Halifax for 2 years. We loved coming into the restaurant having the best sushi and sitting down with Kevin & Christine. Today is our 9 year wedding anniversary and we are missing this place as we live far now. We hope to come back and visit again. Best sushi & best service ever!!!!
I tried the Tokyo ramen and the Haru bento, both lunch specials. There was nothing wrong with the food, but there was also nothing fantastic about it either. Overall the sushi and ramen were both very mediocre and a bit disappointing considering the high rating.The fish did not seem very fresh and had a dryness that contributed to its blandness that the soy sauce could not even help. The rice was also not quite soft enough, maybe due to being left out too long and having cooled off? The assortment of tempura were great and fried nicely which I thought was the most enjoyable part of the bento. The ramen was decent with the soup being a tad bit too salty but had a good texture. The ramen noodles were also nice and chewy, however the chasiu and egg yolk were both slightly overdone. The yolk should be more runny.The restaurant itself is very casual and I think a lot of people from around the neighborhood dine here so it was quite lively. The staff are also very friendly and provide good service. It's fine for what it is, and I don't think there's anything worth raving about but that's just my opinion. Other reviewers seem to be enjoying it fine.
Went with a party of 6 for dinner,had 14 types of suchi, vegi,yokohama,dragon,etc Had Saki ,not bad. ,,sushI....INCREDIBLE...best sushi I've had and presentation was well done. Waited less than 15 min for a plate of 96 pieces...service was best I've had by Tothick( I'm not sorry for spelling as family harrassing me !!) Would recommend highly as just so well done1
Authentic food! Delicious ramen, sushi and more. Pleasant staff who are knowledgeable about the menu. Definitely worth a visit.
This is our all time favourite Japanese restaurant! After coming back from Japan and wanting to find ramen locally, this was the only place that tasted just like it did in Tokyo! The sushi is incredible with gorgeous presentation and I would highly recommend this to anyone looking for an excellent experience!
I have been to your location a handful of times now and I am always impressed! Last night our waitress was so kind! We didn't realize we were there until almost closing time and she did a great job checking in and not making us feel rushed out the door. The food as always was amazing!
