We ordered from Staranise through ubereats and received it around 1245 on April 6th. We love pho, and instead of ordering from our usual spot we decided to mix it up. I had the beef pho, my husband had the house special, we both split some of the barbecue pork strips, and crispy chicken. The chicken was delicious, the pork was not.As soon as I tasted the soup broth I said that it tasted a little sour and a little bit yeasty, I chalked it up to maybe an ingredient in the broth having been fermented. I also noticed that the onions were really dank, very strong which i generally associate with them being left at room or warm temperatures for extended periods. By 6pm we were both sort of feeling yucky, so we decided we'd nap with our baby.I woke up just after 11pm to the sound of my husband dry heaving, both of us nauseous, with cold chills, we are currently sharing the toilet. I'm not sure what is going on in the kitchen here, If it was the broth having been old, the meat or onions having sat out without cold holding, or the pork was old.Either way we are both feeling absolutely awful, and got to pay 70 dollars for that privilege.I did search for a while for a way to message the restaurant privately but there website isn't currently available, you cant communicate with their socials, they haven't claimed their business on review services, and ubereats doesn't give you an opportunity to submit real feedback to a restaurant.Eat at your own risk.
When this place first open the offered alot of variety in their pho now they begin to go cheaper and cheaper with their food not much meat in their pho you don't get everything that is listed that's suppose to be on the item when you eat there they are practically staring you down waiting for you to be done an to quick to come grab your plate the waitress just cake an took the plates of the table usually you know when your waitress gives you the bill you pay when your ready me and my friend was talking still drinking our drinks not even 2 minutes she gaves us our bil she kept looking at us just came over with the debit machine rudely intrupts us like learn some customer service
I used to work here. The soup toppings are premade and microwaved and placed on top of the soup. The toppings are stored in a fridge and used as necessary. Listen to how many times a microwave oven goes off. You'll know how fresh your food is.
Great quality, this is my favorite Pho i've tried in the HRM
Nice noodle soup with rich chicken flavour.?The container of red tea is cute. Looks alike a light bulb.?The environment is cozy and spacious too.☺️Frankly speaking, the price is not cheap though?...Grilled chicken with rice noodle soup: $13.99Red Tea: $3(Before tax and tips)
Neat! I had tom yum lunch combo... Superb in taste and quantity, the ladies are keeping the place going... Amazing in house vibes... The foods are fresh... All the ingredients are grade A... And that egg roll was soooooo nice... All in all, I really enjoyed the overall experience!
Note: The need on the plate in my picture was from bowl to plate. That's not chewed and spit out, that's the new quality standard I suppose.Very disappointed. Until today, had I been asked where the best pho in Atlantic Canada can be found my answer would have been Star Anise. Great service, broth to commit atrocities for and a very nice in restaurant ambiance.Fast forward to my experience this evening. My partner and I waited over 90 minutes after ordering to receive our fresh spring rolls and then an additional 15 minutes for our Pho.While waiting I observed the majority of dine in customer were also waiting and sitting foodless at their table while countless Skip/UE orders went out the door for over an hour. When we finally did get our Pho, the disappointment was literally unpalatable. The beef in our Pho must have been grabbed from the discard pile of trimmings. The beef was tiny little fatty and grizzly pieces, easily a 4:1 ratio of grizzle to meat. The bowl was also lacking in colour, containing maybe 2 basil leaves and a sad little lime sliver. The only silver lining was the broth was still fantastic, but the broth wasn't worth the price and terrible experience. I won't be driving into Halifax anytime soon to eat here again, and I would maybe only recommend the establishment to spite someone now.I hope when I do have the courage to gamble with my free time and come back in the future I am able to erase this review and experience from my history. Until then, genuinely disappointed.I should mention when we nicely pointed out the state of the dish after finishing all we received was a "Thank you".
Waited 1.5 hours for food. Prioritized take out orders over the dining room. Rare beef pho was nothing more than beef fat scraps because we ended up eating AFTER the restaurant had closed. Sad, as before tonight this is the best Vietnamese I've ever had. Will not be returning.
About as good as it gets in Nova Scotia for Vietnamese food. Pretty tasty broth in the Pho and spring rolls are crunchy and tasty.
Excellent lunch. Really enjoyed the visit. Super friendly service.
