Overall not my “cup of tea” 5/10. Order included 10 pan fried dumplings ($14.95), sweet and sour fish ($21.95)and a combination order that included mixed vegetables, general Tao chicken, egg roll and chicken fried rice ($18.95). Unable to attach photos ?.General Tao chicken and chicken fried rice were good, finished all of it?. Portion was small. Would still order again. 10/10Egg roll 5/10: it was okay, wouldn’t order again.Sweet and sour fish 0/10 : Heavily battered and tasted soggy and undercooked. Not quite what I was expecting. Could not bring myself to swallow a single morsel. Will not order again or recommend.Meat and vegetable dumplings 4/10: Hard at the tips. The bottom and mid section were okay though. Filling was meat and veggies (probably would have been good if it were just vegetables). Would not order again or recommend.Mixed vegetables 5/10: Okay, just too much sauce for my liking. Would not order againDelivery service 10/10: Driver was very polite. I was advised that pricing on skip the Dishes was incorrect. Correct amount was $7.25, I paid $4.29 on app and paid ~$4.25 in person. So the math wasn’t adding up but I was too hungry to question it but this appears to be an error with the app and not the restaurant.Quality of food for the entire order 5/10 (I rounded up): I only finished fried rice and general Tao chicken.Everything was over-priced for average/ subpar food.
I always have a great experience here, the owner is really friendly everytime I come in. I typically order the Cantonese Chow Mein, it's delicious and the portion is big. Definitely would recommend to others.
Great service! The beef with broccoli from here is my absolute favorite dish.
Overpriced for pad Thai, it was soupy and the taste was awful. The sauce they use is not pad Thai sauce. Not sure what it was... Could not eat and it was that bad... Avoid at all cost
Not the best... egg roll was too pasty and the lemon chicken and almond guy was soggy... I wouldn't recommend unfortunately
I wanted a refund because I ordered online and left instructions to leave sweet and sour sauce out of meal for someone who is diabetic, which they didn’t do. Also ordered online in the morning to be picked up at 6pm . When I went to pick up order they didn’t even know where my order was. They were taking orders over the phone and in person and getting those orders ready before the orders that were put in ahead of time. Very unorganized ! I went back to explain the issue and they didn’t seem to care. Told me because I ordered with door dash that I should complain to them . Really bad customer service ! I will never order from them again .
This is a place that I have been going for years, and have always enjoyed most of the dishes I order from there. Ginger beef was a dish they don’t prepare very well, this is something I discovered a while ago, so never ordered it again. The food, however, is usually really good. The egg rolls are not at all what I was expecting, and were really quite disappointing. This is a style I have seen in many Chinese restaurants across NS, so perhaps it’s a regional thing. It comes from adding flour to ground beef or pork, which gives it a pasty taste/texture. I can’t understand why this would be done, other than to increase the amount of filling, which increases the profit of the egg roll. I worked as a chef in restaurants for over 20 years. A large part of my job was creating menus and pricing food to ensure profits were being met. My complaint about this place is that the value of the food for your money is not realistic. I ordered for my wife and two very young girls yesterday. My youngest is 2, and doesn’t eat very big portions at all, my oldest is 8 and doesn’t eat if she doesn’t like the food (she ate the rice and the chicken balls). After spending $65, I expected at least enough food to go around… there was enough for what I would consider to be moderate portions. I don’t expect for everyone to be so full that they have to unbuckle their belts and undo the button on their pants. But my wife and I both felt hungry within an hour and a half. My oldest asked for a snack immediately after eating. My biggest complaint about the food was that there was less than 30 grams of cooked beef in the beef and broccoli (which could be around 60grams of beef before it is cooked). So, trying to make sure my family each got some beef, I didn’t take any, my wife and oldest daughter got 2-3 shavings each, and none for my youngest. It’s ridiculous. Even purchasing this food retail at a sobeys or superstore, they could have produced this dish for less than $3. I hope they purchase their veg from a larger company at wholesale price. The dish is sold at $13.95. Which means that the food cost is less than 22% Rice, a scattering of chicken.. $10.95, less than a dollar to prepare 9% food cost Spring rolls, $3 each, less than $.25 to prepare 8% food cost And so on, and so on… What it amounts to is over priced food that doesn’t match the high costs Pandemic has been brutal on restaurants, and that is actually why I left. But there has always been a balance of what people should realistically receive for what they pay for. Even on the low end of food cost, most restaurants cost their dishes to have 25-30% food cost. Yes, restaurants make a higher profit on things like spring rolls.. but there is a bit less profit on something like beef and broccoli. But this is ridiculous.. it doesn’t compute. We will no longer support this business
We ordered combo plates, picked it up to take home, and I have to say, after not ordering here for a while, the quality has gone down. First the good. The sauces on the individual items was pretty good and the S&S tofu was decent. The bad. One of the items we ordered was missed but thankfully they didn't charge us for it either. The ginger beef was literally a sliver of meat, surrounded by a ton of batter. I got five pieces in the combo, and it was almost all batter. The lemon chicken was a bit better but again, the meat to batter ratio was not where it should be. The rice was ok but fairly wet for some reason. The ugly. In my chicken fried rice, I took a forkful and spat out a sharp chicken bone, hooked on one end, and just long enough to have been a choking hazard. I understand it can happen but this made me pick through it all to ensure I got no more ugly surprises (I didn't). We won't be back which is too bad, they used to be way better.
Small portions.Paste egg rolls.Chicken balls have too much batter, so some is not cooked. For the price, I expected better.
The quality of the food differs by several stars depending on what cook is in that night. Because of the inconsistencies, and the multitude of similar bad experience reviews, I'm giving this one star.
