My husband and I had high hopes for loving this restaurant but unfortunately it didn’t quite live up to our expectations. I ordered the salmon and it was completely raw in the middle when it arrived. It took forever for me to flag someone down to let them know which was disappointing. When I did receive my meal again after some additional cooking time, it was delicious. My husband enjoyed his meal (steak frites), I had an unexceptional cocktail and we both enjoyed our deserts. There were a few very large groups in the restaurant while we were there, which seemed to really take up all of the attention of the servers. We definitely felt like we were forgotten about - there was just a real lack of attentiveness and on top of a poorly prepared entree, we were not really impressed.
AMAZING FOOD & SERVICE!My wife and I went to Primal Kitchen last week. We loved it. She had the Hog Ribs and I had the Duck Confit. Both dishes were delicious!Our server, Tara, was excellent. We even got a chance to try Malva, a South African traditional pudding. I highly recommend this place. Go check it out!
Come to Primal. You won't be disappointed. I promise!. Have lived in Halifax for a long time and somehow missed this gem of a place, until today. The atmosphere is modern and very comfortable. The staff were friendly and very pleasant. My friend and I ordered the same thing. Bang Bang Chicken; a spicy chicken dish with noodles to start. Then the Savoy steak; tenderloin (the sauce is lovely) with shrimp and scallops with garlic mash potatoes and maple veggies. Had South African apricot sticky toffee pudding for dessert; a few Hendricks and a couple doubles of 15 yr old Eldorado lol!. Our food was excellent. Everything was great!. The chef and owner was personable, very welcoming and nice to chat with. Honestly, do yourself a favour and drop by. We will definitely be back and you will too!.

The food was delicious, beautifully prepared, and served in a timely manner. Our server was friendly and professional. It was a very busy evening and even though they were down a staff member, everything went smoothly. I would definitely recommend this restaurant!
We ate here and really enjoyed the setting, the mushroom steak, as well as the delicious desserts. Service was also timely and friendly. Would highly recommend !
It was another excellent experience and the food was delicious. That Malva dessert is just marvellous.
The pork ribs in the butcher board were fantastic. My bourbon steak was delicious but the garlic mashed potatoes were the star! Wow. Nothing was over salted either which happens in most places…it was just pure flavour.
The staff was absolutely wonderful all around - however I found the food to be subpar. It’s more of a “foodie” menu
