I haven't been to Jim's in about 3 years and was very disappointed with the hamburger steak I ordered. The portion of hamburg was very small, the carrots & turnip were tasteless. The worst thing was the gravy, which is the best part of hamburg steak, it was really awful tasting and the colour was orange brown. Beef gravy is suppose to be dark brown....and the fries were tasteless. I complained to waitress and she asked if wanted chicken gravy....15.50 for the worst meal ever..I don't know who made the decision to change the gravy and fries but it was a big mistake..My husband had clams which he enjoyed but I think 24.00 is too much ...
My Brother and I ordered the seafood platter, our clams were so over cooked, we told the Server and she us just a small plate, maybe husband had the fish and chips and the fish was over cooked also. Used to be a Favourite place of us to go to when we hit Halifax every time you come this is the second time the food hasn’t been up to par at all so I guess I’m done going there it’s a real shame
Thank you for wonderful meals. Service above 5☆, food 5☆, price 5☆. As for quantity, big potion, I couldn't finish my meal, raincheck on homemade coconut cream pie ?
Unfortunately we ordered delivery to our hotel which was 8 minutes away from this restaurant. My sister had a donair, I had seafood chowder. We were told 35 minutes. After 50 minutes I phoned and the girl to whom I spoke seemed really surprised we had not received our order. At that point there was a knock on the door, and the food was left as the driver was already leaving through the lobby’s door. The Donair looked terrible and was stone cold. The chowder was warm, not hot and very pasty looking. I phoned and told the restaurant, they apologized and sent replacement meals with one of the employees to our door. They included a free piece of pie and offered us 25% off if we came into the restaurant. However, we did not go as there are so many good restaurants in the area, unfortunately Jims did not make that list.
We had a good time here reuniting with some old friends and this was a pretty good to do so. The food was pretty good but nothing special. The fried foods were a bit soggy and the wait times were a bit long but the waitress was friendly and patient with us.

We had diner at Jim's tonight. The parking is fairly limited and fairly difficult to maneuver around. Against my better judgement, we wound up parking in the lot for the building next door. Not the best circumstances, but it is what it is.Once inside they didn't seem crowed at all. We chose a nice window overlooking the railroad and the water. I've had much worse things to look at while dining. So that was a plus. We thought about dining outside on the outdoor deck, but it has been chilly this week. So we opted for the window table. Our waitress was very professional and did a good job.The food was very good. The wife chose shrimp and chips. I chose scallops and chips. We tried each others and agreed that both were excellent. We had no room for dessert. Our experience at Jim's was excellent on the inside, not so much outside. But all in all worth the trip. And the price was very reasonable. So I do recommend Jim's for a good meal. Hopefully the parking won't deter you.
From the outside it looks like any other diner, but the patio is great, and the inside is well appointed. Staff are incredibly friendly. Food was great and decent prices. Going back again
A very casual dining experience. I ordered the seafood platter and the donair plate. The sweet potato fries were too soft and limp imo and didn't have enough crunch; perhaps double frying would help do the trick. The donair plate was pretty good although a little confusing to eat with the pita sitting under all the meat. Did you want me to roll it? There was too much meat to reasonably roll though, so I'm not sure. The seafood platter was decently fried up, although I was a little confused when the haddock did not come fried as with the rest of the plate.I will say that the most positive thing was the portion sizes which were huge. The staff and service were also great ???Jim's Restaurant is a solid experience for me.
Always love the food here..and always a great option for food. Good prices.. friendly staff awesome food
