Made our first visit to Hali Deli. Ordered two smoked meat sandwiches. The smoked meat was amazing! The fries were excellent. I'm definitely coming back again. The restaurant is cash only. There is an ATM located inside the restaurant if needed.
Wow.... mind blown. Loved this place. French toast and corned beef. Delicious. We also got matzo ball soup to bring home. Incredible!!!! Bought a pound of smoked turkey. I'd make a trip to halifax from NB just to go here again. The friendliest waitress I've had in a long time.
Nice to see an older style diner still going. Overall was a fine experience. I mentioned to the waitress I have a black pepper allergy and she showed me some things on the menu that would be safe and I went with the grilled cheese and fries. The fries had pepper on them and she was apologetic and took them away and told the kitchen to not put pepper on them. 5 mins later she brought the new fries and incredibly they had more pepper on them than the first one. The chef had been staring at me the whole time and I began to figure out that maybe the pepper on the fries wasn’t a mistake but a choice. Nice place but watch out for the stare down pepper chef.
Nice selection of menu items to choose from, a cozy, kinda retro ambiance, and friendly service. The food was delicious (I had lox on a bagel) and reasonably priced, and the portions were pretty big. Really looking forward to visiting again to try other options.As other comments have mentioned, be aware it's cash-only.
Talk about solid, quality, comfort food. This deli has it. Very large menu with a Jewish focus, including latkes, challah bread and excellent smoked meat sandwiches. Had the large breakfast, going again later for a Reuben sandwich.Not to mention reasonably priced, and excellent service with a smile.A new favourite for me.
Hali deli is a nice little Jewish Deli on Agricola street . I made an attempt to go previously but it was closed in the middle of the day .Be aware this place does close pretty early in the day , so check the hours ahead of time .I had the Reuben sandwich with potato salad . The potato salad was really really good & the sandwich was tasty .I found it a bit pricy for what i got , I had to purchase two bottles of water as you are not given any tap water or anything . I'm not big on plastic bottles of water .This place is cash only , I didn't know that and had to use the ATM , also a few dollars extra .So don't forget to bring cash .Overall it was all good , I just wish I could have a glass of water , without an extra charge . The food tasted great . The waitress was friendly . I would return .
CASH ONLY-ATM ON-SITE! This Deli continues to be a regular place we visit - amazing smoked meat, great brunch place, and they get fantastic Montreal bagels (not NY! Totally different!) sent in so you don't have to go to a second place to get them. Our standard is the hash with a bagel - but really everything here is excellent. We do take out during pandemic, dine-in also possible.
Delicious smoked meat and other yummy things.Would be nice if they could open earlier for breakfast, 9:30 is pretty late for meAlso would be nice if they could carry decaf coffee.
I had their HaliBurger. The beef 'bacon' and the latke we perfect, and the touch of spice in the relish balanced the juicy burger chef's kiss. My friends both had the classic smoked meat sandwiches which were stacked high with thickly cut meat. And the fries... I'm already planning lunch here tomorrow!
An absolute gem of a spot. Perfect for breakfast, brunch or lunch. Swift, tasty food and the best service around. Love it here!
