I ordered from here and never received my order because it was 2:30 and that's when they close to reopen back at 5:30. That's cool but they still charged me despite not delivering. I called to ask for a refund but the owner just won't do it. The manager/ owner doesn't know how to do refunds?! I called a couple times for a whole month and got nothing. he also was really rude over the phone. This used to be my go to curry restaurant but now I am never going here again. Plus the food isn't even that good.
what we ordered was:1) beef biriyani- 10/102) chicken biriyani- 10/103) chicken tikka- 10/104) chapati- 10/10the ‘curry village indian restaurant’ was honestly the best indian restaurant i’ve visited in halifax.staff was very warm and welcoming.the owner was really friendly and came to our table to chat with us.in conclusion- had a really great dining experience.
The best Indian food in Halifax, not just because of the food but the staff as well. The owner was so kind to my friends and I, telling us hilarious stories about his younger years in Halifax. Every time I’m visiting I love making a stop here! If you have the opportunity come here
Ordered a meal Online, after an hour I called and they told me that the internet was down. STILL WAITING FOR MY REFUND 2 DAYS LATER. I have called several times, mostly no answer, but when someone does answer the manager isn't there. I have left a number twice and still no call back. AVOID THIS PLACE, Sad because it used to be good.
We ordered our food, and asked multiple time for the food not to be spicy, and children are eating. Sunny (probably) the owner took our order and confirmed it. My 4 are 7 years old ordered Shrimp Tandoor, they were very hungry, however they couldn’t eat any shrimp at all. My 4 years old tried one bite, then got out it out of his mouth, the second bite, he vomited it. My 7 years old loves Shrimp, and couldn’t tolerate it at all, they complained it was too spicy. My wife tried it and confirmed that it is too spicy… When called the waitress, she said she checked with the chef, who confirmed that they only have spicy shrimp and couldn’t change it for non spicy. Sunny came over, provided no customer service, nor problem resolution, never offered an apology, nor he tried to do anything to correct it. In fact, he kept denying the fact that it is very hot, and said it only has Indian spices that is not too hot since it had no chili. Sunny yelled at the waitress when heard that she said they have only spicy shrimp. I had to say sorry to her to have such an abusive boss. Of course I will never visit this restaurant again, but more importantly wanted to warn other clients about that, especially if you have children. We had to take our children to another restaurant right after and they were able to eat their supper
Sonny was soo sweet. The food was AMAZING! We will definitely be back! Thank you for being so kind to us Sonny xo
I wish I had tried this place sooner. The best Indian cuisine I have had in Canada. The Butter Chicken is delightful as was the Saag Paneer. The Naan delicious!! We will definitely be repeat customers! Thank you for bringing this delicious food to Halifax!
Had a great experience dining here a few days ago. Really enjoyed the samosas, the dipping sauce was particularly great as it was spicy and refreshing. Loved it.
Delicious food and friendly service! I have tried many menu options and they were all great. The portions are generous and satisfying.
The Oakham Curry Club (OCC) is one of the world’s most respected reviewers of Indian cuisine. With multiple international franchises, we relentlessly scour the globe in pursuit of the crispiest papadams, the tastiest sauces and spiciest curries. On January 28th, 2022 the OCC Nova Scotia reviewed Curry Village as part of our hunt for the CHOTY (Curry House Of The Year) and in search of the very first OCC approved curry house in Canada. Members vote anonymously on 5 categories - and an average score is given to each restaurant we review. For Curry Village: Quality - 8.0/10 Service - 8.0/ 10 Value - 7.3/10 Customer Care - 6.6/10 Atmosphere - 7.3/10 With an average score of 7.5 Curry Village is OCC approved! Delivering strong quality and service, Curry Village performed admirably in its quest to live up to its own billing as "the finest Indian restaurant in town" (although the OCC membership abstains from certifying such a claim at this time until we have awarded our CHOTY later this year). Having enjoyed a variety of tasty curries including butter chicken, shrimp madras, paneer kadaiwala (a very welcome recommendation from the waitstaff), and a unique dhansak style lamb curry (a new and enjoyable experience for all attending members) the made in-house from scratch tandoor baked naan was exceptional and truly brought the meal together. Waitstaff required a bit of prompting/nudging at times but overall was friendly, made sound recommendations, and ensured the cold Kingfisher kept flowing. The atmosphere appropriately complemented the cuisine as the walls were adorned with countless photos of the Taj Mahal in addition to the striking feature wall of rupee bills behind the bar. In summary, we are delighted to make Curry Village the first ever OCC approved curry house in Nova Scotia and in Canada. We had a very pleasurable dining experience and would certainly recommend Curry Village to anyone in the mood for a curry. - OCC
