So I really wanted to like this place but don't come here if you're looking for authentic Greek souvlaki. Souvlaki was made in the oven not on a barbecue. Not much marination or flavor. The Greek salad contains a lot of lettuce and not much vinegar in the dressing. Overall I would say it was pretty bland except for the potatoes which were quite good. Not sure where else to recommend for Greek in halifax, Euro pizza by the rotary is pretty great except they do not do potatoes or rice.
I have been going to this restaurant since the late 90s and after 24 years of satisfaction, I am disappointed with Cousins. I know that inflation and the current economic situation from the pandemic makes it extremely hard to run a restaurant, however I don't believe that big compromises are worth the risk of losing a good reputation to save a few bucks. I ordered the pan-fried haddock dinner and was disappointed that a meal that went from $13.95 to $17.95 had instant mashed potatoes and vegetables that came from a frozen mix as the sides when they used to serve real mashed potatoes and freshly cooked broccoli and carrots. My friend ordered the moussaka and it tasted like something from a nursing home when it used to be the best moussaka in town imo. The waitress was lovely but the food is no good anymore. It's sad to loose a good restaurant while it's still open. I won't be coming back. ?
Ordered and enjoyed the Seafood Platter. My mother also had it and substituted Greek lemon potatoes for the fries which was the better choice.
I really enjoy this restaurant it has lovely servers and the food is very good. Last time the food was off but usually it's very good. I like the variety of options and the comfort food.
Awful!! I had the Chicken Souvlaki with Greek salad and the lemon potatoes, chicken barely done and was so fatty and grissely, that I couldn't cut it. Lemon potatoes tasted like boiled potatoes that sat in some undestinquishable brown broth, no lemon taste, not roasted. Greek salad was meh! Terrible tadziki, basically bland sour cream! Had
First time having the Greek food there. Usually have some Canadian fare. Clubs, soups, fish n chips etc. Staff and service is always good. COVID rules in effect.We had a Greek dish with Moussaka, cabbage rolls and rice or potatoes. It also had a piece of pit with it. Not good. The cabbage rolls had a lot of oil on them...too oily for us. That got down into the potatoes as well. The moussaka was small and had an odd consistency from what I have had in the city.Will stick to the rest of the menu we know.
I was EXTREMELY disappointed with the food tonight. There was 5 of us who got together at the restaurant. A friend ordered the quarter chicken dinner and the meat was so dry that he could only eat half of it. Three of us got the fish and chips and it was flavorless. I was a customer for YEARS and this was embarrassing. The worst though, was the bun that came with the side order of soup. It was very stale and smelled like mold. The waitress however was funny and friendly. Cousins, PLEASE DO BETTER! In a society that rarely goes out anymore, you don't want to develop a bad reputation of being terrible.
Had breakfast. The homfries were undercooked and cold. The bacon was that precooked thin sliced hard too crispy stuff.
My mother checked their website and it said they closed at 9pm. We arrived at 7:50pm and someone yelled from the kitchen that they were closed.We called to let them know their website says 9pm, and someone rudely answered and argued saying that we were wrong. We politely said it would be wise to update the website because we came from Cole Harbour and the person's response was to "come earlier next time".There was zero ownership and no apology. Absolutely attrocious customer service. We will not be giving our patronage to this diner again and would not recommend it to anyone.
Flies where every where. Landing on food swarming the table and our food.. asked for to go containers we couldn't stay there.. server said sorry theirs nothing I can do.. I clearly looked discusted she looked at me said I feel you .. we just literally left the drive way .. super disappointed..Won't be back .. I do not recommend.
