We enjoyed lunch on the rooftop patio - very cool vibes and a great location. Caesars and grapefruit mimosas are both excellent. We split the Smoked Octopus and Lobster Ravioli - the Octopus is similar to a salad, light and refreshing. Highlight was definitely the Ravioli - sprinkled in black truffle - it stands out as one of the best dishes from our East Coast foodie adventures. Highly recommend this dish. Our server was lovely and offered great tourism recommendations.
We waited an hour and a half while we watched people come in after us and eat and leave before we got any of our orders. On top of that the food was overly complicated and just not good. Even something as basic as fries and nachos tasted kind of weird, none of us really liked our meals, and we had burgers, fried chicken plates, salad and kimchi fried rice. It was also loud and dark, and while I like places with dimmer lighting this was a bit much. Anyway 0/10 do not recommend.
Given the price levels, I went in anticipating great flavours and good service.Service was great! no questions there.Most of the food was quite disappointing. I’ll try to go dish by dish:1. Chowder: This was the highlight; great flavours and consistency. Fresh and generous amounts of seafood.2. Octopus: This was a rather confusing one. There was an extremely salty element in the dish, which would be fine it was just sprinkled lightly on top, but it was all over the dish and in the sauce. Kind of ruined the palette. The octopus was grilled well though. There was a pork element to the dish as well which was labelled as “Loukaniko”. I’d advise that if it’s a more obscure term, as opposed to more common terms like “Chorizo”, to spell out what that item is in the menu description. Some folks will have dietary restrictions and it’s best if the menu reading experience is made as effortless as possible.3. Oysters: Fresh4. Calamari: Well done, although I do take it for granted that fried calamari will be well executed almost anywhere.5. Lobster Ravioli: the ravioli sheets were too thick, especially at the bottom. The sauce was thick, but lacked depth and flavour. Stuffing was generous.6. Soft shell crab and shrimp: The crab had a very strong smell. And as a crab lover, I don’t often say that. The celeriac purée was quite underwhelming and it’s flavours didn’t help with the overall monotone flavour profile of the dish.
Pleasant staff with a nice interior. Food was delicious, quickly delivered and had great presentation. large servings for the price. Great playlist, and nice and clean washroom. 10/10 would eat there again.
Morgan was our server she was kind, friendly and amazing at her job. The food was absolutely phenomenal! We were visiting from Calgary, AB and it is so hard to find wonderful service and a thrilling experience, the Black Sheep was everything we were looking for and more! Not to mention we got into town late at night and it was hard to find any restaurants still open. Thank you for being open, available and the perfect spot for a bite to eat. We will definitely be visiting again next summer just so that we can go to the Black Sheep again!
Had great seats on their patio and really enjoyed the service and atmosphere of the restaurant. The calamari and the octopus as entrees are both great choices. I had the lamb fettuccine which was amazing and the lobster ravioli was also great. The only problem with the lobster ravioli is that they only give you 7 or 8 of them from what I remember. They are quite stuffed but if you just have that plate you might still be hungry.
The Black Sheep is hidden away inside Alexander Keith's Brewery, giving it a unique charm and environment. And while the menu may seem standard at first, the dishes are anything but. My eggs benny, served with a choice of salad, fries, or (my choice of) both, was the perfect start to the day. The banana bread french toast sounded good in theory and was interesting as a one-time try, but would be a pass for next time. I did, however, have a chance to try some of their housemade blueberry lavender jam which was delicious - any dish containing this would surely be worth a try!

Visited Halifax and wanted a romantic dinner spot, honestly this wasn’t our first choice we ended up here serendipitously when the first place we went was closing when we got there. We are SOO happy that we ended up there because this place was exactly what we had in mind for the night. The ambiance was wonderful, the playlist was on point, they check your coat if you want, the bathrooms were clean and nice, the staff was excellent and don’t get me started on the food. The food was superb.
