The eggs Benny sauce was bright white and tasted sour. Inedible. Waste of money. Not sure who is making the hollandaise but it was like melted sour cream on top.
This certainly didn't meet up with the standards I expected. The manager agreed with me and offered a 50% discount. Not satisfactory. I will never be back.
Firstly, the barista has some great talent! He can make one mean vanilla coffee!! I loved it! Secondly, the food was as delicious as it was gorgeous! ? The French toast was perfection! Fluffy and super tasty, highly recommend this place for anyone!!
I ordered traditional French toast. Only came with maple syrup. Asked for fresh fruit and whipping cream. They said they only had strawberries. I said that’s great. They brought two strawberries that had been cut into many pieces and Crème Fresh not whipping cream to put on French toast. Plus the French Toast was cold. Not even warm. I bought it to the server’s attention and they really didn’t care and said that all we can offer. So I said I don’t want any of it because it awful and left. Then some man, who didn’t identify hims self followed me down the street. Didn’t tell me his name or position. Asked me if I just was at the restaurant. I said I was. He asked what the problem was. I told him as above. He too didn’t care. Still, he didn’t identify who he was but I dated I should have asked to speak to a manager. In addition. To the very poor quaintly of the food, my cappuccino Was served in a water glass. So when I went to pick it up, o couldn’t hold onto it due to the heat of the glass. How silly to serve a hot beverage in a water glass. Needless to say, I won’t go back. I had been her many times previous, and have found the last few times, the food has declined compared to what it once was. Plus being followed by someone who didn’t identify them self but I can only assume was a member of the staff. That in itself is creepy and not a stable behaviour.
Went here for my birthday brunch. I had the special - an Eggs Benny with duck confit and a flight of mimosas. The Eggs Benny was probably one of the best I've ever had. Loved the mimosas except for the charcoal lemonade was not my favourite. Service was good. Coffee was great! Menu was creative. Definitely would return. Bright, modern atmosphere. Check this place out.
Best brunch in the city. Very attentive service and seriously delicious food! We can't wait to go back!
As a vegan, I’m usually meh about brunch. Almonak far exceeded my expectations, the server was knowledgeable about vegan and gluten free options. The food was fantastic, and they offer a flight of mimosas.
Not great quality or value for money. Limited menu selection. Getting served a garden salad with vinaigrette for brunch is just strange. There are much better and cheaper options available.
Probably the best eggs benedict I’ve ever had, homemade biscuit was bomb, potatoes were seasoned perfectly, salad was so light and fresh- highly recommend! Our lattes were so delicious and the staff was so nice, we got an iced americano and peppermint mocha to go which were also superb.
We were recently at The Almonak for their first ever comedy night. We were really excited to go, as the cafe had been on our list for a few months. We arrived a few minutes early, and I have to say - right from the first minute we walked in the door, the team - all of them - were absolutely excellent; friendly, warm, and chatty. We felt so welcomed in. You can tell that they've put a lot of thought into the physical space too. From the plants on the walls and the ceiling, the clean and pristine washrooms, the open concept kitchen, right down to the name plate on our table - it felt like they were expecting us and that's a really awesome feeling and makes for such a great experience. The show itself was amazing. Such a great crowd and just the right size (in my opinion) with a good number of comedians. They did a great reminder at the beginning not to have loud conversations and to be respectful of the comedians. From the check-in at the door, to the protocol in-between comedians you can tell safety is a huge priority for them, too. One of the things I was most excited about was the select pub menu for the night. Excellent options, all of which were executed really well. My personal favourite was the cornbread waffle with pulled chicken and spring onions. Swoon! My husband really enjoyed the sausage roll. My only piece of feedback was that the portions felt a little small for the cost. We ordered four of the small plates (which were $6/ea) and one big plate (which was $12/ea) and we could have easily eaten more. Not bad when the only criticism I have of the food is that I wanted more of it. Ha! The quality was on point, and it made us even more excited to go back again another time to try their infamous brunch. Oh! I also had a London Fog and it was, quite frankly, the most delicious one I've ever tasted. I would go back simply for one of those. Overall, really really awesome little nook in Halifax. Highly recommend!
