Worst service ever! Plus our food was cold. The baked potato was so cold the butter didn’t even melt. I don’t know why they ask how you’d like your Steak…everyone gets it done the same way (overcooked and cold). The waitress didn’t come back to ask how the meal was. You could tell she hated her job and wished we weren’t there. NO SERVICE! NO TIP!
Thus USED to be a great restaurant but the prices have nearly doubled over the last 5-6 years and the quality has gone down. One person in our party ordered a medium rare steak only to get a well done paper thin tough piece of meat that was full of gristle. To be fair they did get another steak for her promptly but since the steaks are paper thin now they have a hard time cooking to the customers requested doneness.
Steak and Stein Dartmouth location, is not what it used to be. I called and made a reservation and asked if the Prime Rib special was being served and I was told yes. When we placed our order we were told they did not have a Prime Rib special. When I made our reservation, I asked for a booth for a party of 3. They sat us in the worst booth in the restaurant. We had the booth overlooking the cooking station. I was absolutely stunned by what I saw! The cooks used their hands to grab condiments for burgers, salads, etc. They were wiping their hands on their face and touching handles and plates, then they stuck their bare hands in a bowl full of french fries and put them on a plate. Why would they not use tongs? The two people yelling the orders in the microphone, also used their hands to rearrange food that was plated. Our food was disgusting. The steaks were like boot leather. The pan-fried haddock was horrible. The overall atmosphere was unprofessional and gross. I am not one to write reviews, but this is warranted.
Did we eat at the same Steak and Stein? Over priced grizzly steak! I have been going there since the 80's when I loved it. Now all I can do is to get someone to go with me! Corned beef hash brunch burned to a crisp.. Don't even answer if they ask"was your meal good" they say that they will mention it to the cooks. As if! I wouldn't recommend it at all.
Family restaurant located on Portland St, Dartmouth, very friendly, very hand, lots of parking. After having not been here for about two years, we now have tried it several times. Onion rings were great but the Tenderloin Beef Tips were delicious each time we had them. the Linguini with Chicken strips delicious as well.
I was looking forward to going to supper when we got there the waiter that took us to our table was very nice. He said our waitress would be over, well we waited 15 minutes, for her. I ordered a Delmonico steak, it was not cooked I mention to the waitress, all she said I was sorry. So I went to pay and mention it to the cashier all she said sorry..I said that's not what customers want to hear. Try to fix the problem I paid and left. They should start reading their comments their business is going downhill, this is the third time and the last time , READ YOUR COMMENTS
Presentation is simple, but taste is phenomenal. Excellent meal from start to finish. Highly recommend the derby style strip loin!
Food was poor steak was very stringy, bun was soaking in the steak gravy. Fries were tasteless and soggy, desert was dry not the best I have had from there.
Prices are too high for a family restaurant. We paid around $50.00 for the 7 oz. Delmonte steak special. The flavour was good, but at least half of the steak was all grizzly and inedible. I showed our waitress how much waste was left, and she agreed it was a lot, then cleaned the table and brought our bill without even notifying the cook or offering a discount. We probably won't be back soon.
A lovely restaurant, however we visited yesterday. The staff were slow, and I had lipstick on my glass. As the waitress wasn’t fluent in English I didn’t mention it. She had enough of a problem with Merlot , so anything else would be difficult.
