I have come to the conclusion that people in Halifax have never sampled good Chinese food, reading some of these reviews. The hot and sour soup was neither hot nor sour, just a bad watery broth with not much in it. The general gao chicken was bathed in some gelatinous glop and tasted as bad as it looked, while the shrimps in the noodles tasted fishy (and off) and there was this beef dish that literally tasted like overcooked crispy dog food (pictured). Ugh - do not put yourself through this if you have ever experienced normal Chinese food.
Always had good food and good service but not on my visit last week. The food was cold, we sent it back to be heated, but was still pretty cool when it was returned to us. The beef and broccoli sauce was congealing it was so cool.The fried rice was not the same at all - very bland. All in all, not a great experience. Not sure we will be back.
I ordered the "Mu Shu Pork Crepes" as take out. The meat in this dish is so little, one needs a magnifying glass or a microscope to find it. I bet it was maximum 3-5% meat content. The spicy crispy beef was very good, quite outstanding. The deep fried wonton, however, were over fried and a little tough, contained very little pork and given the large size of the order the amount of sweet and sour sauce was insufficient.
The curry chicken soup with noodles was the best I have ever tasted…….it was spicy enough that my taste buds did a double take. I will be back soon! Thank youRestaurant is clean quite with good service.
I've eaten at Modern Orchid a good number of times now, service is always quick, and all of the options I have tried have been delicious, well cooked, and very flavorful. Very reasonable prices for the amount of food and quality.

My favorite noodle place, especially for Gluten Free options. They have separate allergies friendly menu and staff very nice. Their food is very good and you can't finish the portion they serve.
This is a great and wonderful Chinese restaurant at West Bedford, I love their food , delicious and authentic. The restaurant is very clean and nice. Truly had a wonderful experience dining in Modern Orchid, definitely will come back.
