It was not the worst sushi I've had but also not even close to average. For the most parts rolls were not rolled tightly and fell apart when trying to pick it up, everything tasted pretty much the same and sashimi was cut far too thick. We came for the dinner all you can eat, so weren't expecting the best sushi ever but it was not even comparable to similar style. Use the $30 and go elsewhere and focus on quality over quantity.
Absolutely awful experience. They do not allow people to have different meals. Either everyone buffets or everyone orders menu. I went there for my birthday, I didn't eat and it cost me $31 plus tax. They ruined my birthday. They never checked on our table or cleared plates, we had to yell at the man for water. Absolutely do not recommend. Don't waste your money. $275 for my birthday dinner and I ate nothing because I couldn't have a meal when everyone else wanted buffet. Go to genji.
I loved Jukai since it opened and used to recommend it to everyone. Coming today and being charged 30.99 plus tax and tip for lunch is a bit overboard since it was 19.99 not long ago. Customer gouging is sad and I think won’t do you any good in the long run. I know my friends and I all felt ripped off today and sadly won’t be back or recommending anymore. Best of luck.
Gave this place a rating of one only because there was no option for zero. We didn’t actually eat there, so can’t rate the food. We had made a reservation for 5, at this restaurant, specifically because one of us doesn’t eat sushi but loves Thai food. After being seated our server wanted to confirm that we were having the “all you can eat” buffet, because that option, if chosen by one person, had to be chosen by all. We explained that one of us preferred a menu option and that we all wanted to see the menu, and we were told that we had to choose the buffet. Very disappointed, we left. First and last visit. H. J. I ordered takeout through skip the dishes and it was all phenomenal. Jukai has a better selection of maki rolls and excellent flavour combinations compared to their competitors. Our go to rolls are Princess roll and Sweet Angel roll. Food is always fresh, the right temperature, and of excellent quality. The only downside is sometimes there are no tables available when you eat in so reservations are a good idea.
Discovered a bit by accident. Had the all-you-can-eat lunch. Delicious food, stunning presentation, great value for money. Both my wife and I really enjoyed. If we visit Halifax again we will definitely return here. Highly recommended.
The price for the AYCE is now 31.00 on a Thursday at dinner time .I found the service quite slow . I paged from the tablet for a water refill and the water didn't get to me for a few minutes , more than once .A few items I ordered from the tablet never arrived at all , more than once .The menu lists ingredients for certain dishes but when they arrived , there were added ingredients that were not listed , like cashews , which had to be sent back due to an allergy at the table .I was waiting on a dessert that was missed and it all felt kind of rushed , I was given my bill before I was even finished eating . Probably due to surpassing the two hour time limit , that was spent mostly waiting on unreceived or missed orders .The area that JUKAI is in was really nice , close to the water , but it was difficult to find parking .I'm not sure I will be back .
Absolute love it. It is the best all you can eat sushi around HRM and Dartmouth area. Will bring my family here again.
Our first time at Jukai, atmosphere was industrial, open ceilings and bright. The rolls and sashimi were delicious however, knife skills could be better. Pieces stuck together in a corner on 50% of the rolls and sashimi. 5 spice chicken was good, kind of looked like the spice was put on after which could be normal, just different from what we have had. minimal garnish which was appreciated, nothing like wasting a huge pile of carrot. The ladies that waited on us were great! Ice cream didn't have any ice crystals!!!! ( Mango) Now the bad 1 waiter- male- blonde- was not great, almost tossing plates on the table, taking plates with little regard. Didn't really have a welcoming feeling to him. Hand rolls were good but upon arrival to our table the seaweed was already chewy. Everytime someone came in, reservations or not the staff had to look for a table. Tables sat unclean for 15 or more minutes when they probably should he been cleaned up faster with the number of people coming in. If they had t0 clean off a table not coming back to let the patrons know it would be a minute. Customer service is key especially face to face. Over all this is a great new all you can eat location and we will be back.
Ridiculous experience! We saw a maggot on the sashimi plate! and we called the server to check, she took away the plate and came back to bring the same plate, said that it was not a maggot it was a sesame. I am not stupid I know the difference between a sesame and maggot, I trusted this restaurant and frequently visit, so I did not take the picture I thought I could have reasonable explanation! We did not eat a lot just seated there for 20 mins but we did not want to eat any more is gross! BUT they still asked us to pay whole price! Unbelievable!?
