I haven't eaten here in years but the meal was good and it was not too expensive. The only thing I missed was water chestnuts in my chicken chow mein. The eggrolls and chicken balls were quite good.
I always like ordering here, they're very nice and helpful people and the food is good, portions could be better for some dishes but its really good regardless!
I wish I had read the reviews before we ordered. Fongs held up their reputation. The absolute worst Chinese food we have ever had. The hot and sour soup was canned beef vegetable soup with spices and tofu added. The soo guy was soggy and tasteless. The chop suey…also completely tasteless with pieces of rubbery chicken. Not quite sure how you can ruin chicken fried rice but they managed. I would love to comment on the spring roll but they didn’t bother to send it. Instead we got an egg roll with a mystery mixture that was inedible. Overall….awful.
Food is always amazing. After moving here from Toronto 4 years ago. I wasn’t able to find my new favourite Chinese restaurant until I discovered Fongs ?
Went for dinner with friends. Was a bit hesitant because last visit (a couple of years ago) was ok, but not great. WOW! What a change. This was really the best local Chinese food ever. Honey garlic ribs were perfect. Spring rolls and egg rolls were amazing. Everything was piping hot and cooked to perfection with vegetable dishes bright and with slight crunch. I know this restaurant is under new ownership, and the new owners have taken everything that was wrong and turned it around - cannot wait to go back. Only complaint was that, although signage and menu indicated otherwise, our waitress told us they do not have their liquor license yet. We had planned cocktails before dinner, so that was a bit disappointing, but the quality of the food more than made up for it. Waitress was pleasant and did everything to make our visit A1. Prices in line with other establishments This is definitely my new "go to" restaurant for Chinese food. Congratulations to the new owners!
We haven't eaten at Fongs in a few years and had heard it wasn't as good as past years. But with a change in ownership we decided to give it a try. WOW. Best chinese food we've had in years. 5 of us in the party, ordered several different dishes. Food was hot, fresh, perfectly cooked the honey garlic spare ribs were incredible. Not licensed yet, hope that comes soon. Wil be back again soon!
I give Fongs 5 stars for excelling at what it is meant to be: good basic chinese food, excellent prices, large quantities and really friendly customer service. Singapore noodles, ginger chicken, lemon chicken, beef broccoli and almond ding are our favourites. The egg rolls are amazing as well! I find the food is very consistent and SO fast. I can call and have it hot and ready in 15 mins.
I was a regular at FONG’S for many years so I was very disappointed when I heard that the Fongs were retiring. When the new owners said everything would stay the same, I was optimistic. First time I went in, Christine greeted me…and the food tasted the same. Second time, it tasted a little different but it was the same happy face. Third time, person that answered the phone wasn’t overly knowledgeable on the menu…and NO CHRISTINE! She is/was the heart and soul of the restaurant. To make things worse, the rice was bland, the chicken balls were hard as a rock, and the ginger beef was like rubber…I’m wondering if food isn’t made to order anymore. The hospitality and food are definitely not the same. Is Christine at a different restaurant? I will eat wherever she is just because she’s simply the best!
This is the third time ordering since the new owners took over, and the third time they couldn’t get it right, whoever answered the phone didn’t even know what or if they had mushroom chop suey, it’s getting really frustrating, don’t get me wrong, the food is good but it would be better if it was made as requested. Be a while before I spend more money there…miss the previous owners and staff
Went in today and ordered two chicken ball specials and an order of deep fried won tons. Open it up 2 hours later and got gross won ton soup. Clerks got to learn to listen. Heading back to get my won tons and bringing their disgusting soup back. They made me my won tons.
