It wasn't bad but it definitely left a lot to be desired. We called the day before to make sure they were serving brunch. When we showed up they took our drink order after about 20 minutes. I ordered an orange juice which had gone bad. I asked for a replacement but it wasn't any better. About 35 minutes later, the server came by to take our brunch order. We went to give our order the server told us that they weren't doing brunch. Had we known that when we first sat down we probably wouldn't have stayed. After telling us there wasn't brunch we looked at the menu again and waited another 20 minutes before the server came to get our order. About an hour and a half after arriving the food was brought out and the busser had no idea which plate was which and was calling them by names that were not on the menu which made it very confusing to sort out whose food was whose. While the burger I had had great sauce the bun was the cheap buns you could get at the grocery store and the fries were more like mushy little nubs. I don't think I'll be back. Two stars for the super friendly staff.
We really enjoyed our dinner at this great restaurant. The server was excellent and because of her we order so much and ate it all!Food is great, fresh, hot and enough!!
We were seated and the server was very friendly and knowledgeable of the menu. We were very hungry as were at an event all morning and had not had breakfast. This was 3 PM by now. The food was horrible. My 2 piece deep fried cod was warm and the batter was soaked in grease.All of our fries were basically the same. Black and greasey. Barely warm. My coffee with Baileys was warm with a glob of cream that wouldn't melt. And those cutting boards that the food was served on are disgusting! They can't even be put in the dishwasher. How clean is That? Use a plate for God's sake! Overall terrible experience and won't be back.
appetizers took over an hour and entrées were almost another hour after that. servers were nice but didn’t go out of their way to make the experience better.
Really cool ambiance, friendly staff, and great food. I found the portions to be perfect and priced great. I highly recommend!
The Salt House is fabulous place. The food is second to none, a great selection of beer on tap as well as wine and cocktails. Our server Nicole was very attentive and polite without being intrusive. If you're looking for good food and drinks at great prices, look no further. I highly recommend The Salt House.
Lovely atmosphere, good service, delicious food, reasonable prices. I had the cod au gratin and it was excellent, but the best part was the portion size. I left feeling full, but not so full I felt gross. Would definitely go back.
I'm only giving even 1 star because I can not leave a review otherwise. If I could make it negative stars, I would! I booked a reservation for myself and my spouse to celebrate a special occasion. The reservation was for 9pm. We showed up on time and were greated with a less than accommodating hostess who informed us that we couldn't be seated because the kitchen 'had absolutely no food left'. No apology - just a snarky look on her face. I asked why they didn't call people who had reservations to let them know this in advance and was met with a shoulder shrug. They did, after all, take my phone # when I booked the reservation. I would assume it would be for such reasons as this? But realistically, how many restaurants 'run' out of food? They obviously weren't prepared and as a result, our special night out was ruined. 9pm on a Saturday night isn't really an opportune time to look for the dining experience that we were hoping for. Perhaps going forward, when you book a reservation at The Salt House, they should say that your reservation is confirmed pending that they are not ill prepared and 'run out of food'! Or do yourself a favor and just pass on The Salt House altogether.
Last night was our second time dining at the Salt House & it did not disappoint! Service was wonderful and the food was delicious and done perfectly! The prices are so reasonable! Love this restaurant and we will definitely be back again!
A great stop in St. Johns! The balance between price and what you get I feel is just right. When I visited with my family, the meal here was all of our favorites. Great drink deals too, and I find the atmosphere to be very nice here.
