The people at M&S were so earnest and eager to please thatâs itâs hard to write anything negative, but my halibut was a bit overdone. Otherwise, the lamb chops were excellent and the artisanal green salad SUPERB. The cheesecake dessert was good. Itâs certainly better than most restaurants weâve sampled in St. Johnâs.
5/8 meals had to be sent back. 3 burgers were ice cold and 2 steaks over done. LONG wait for drinks and food. Wasnât really the servers fault as he was the only one on the floor and was obviously ran off his feet. We got there in time for happy hour appetizers but werenât served in time.
Good food, good service. Friendly staff, and lovely decor
We had a reservation for 4 people to celebrate my wifeâs birthday. We really didnât enjoy the evening after paying over $400 tab. It took around 20 minutes after we were seated to take our drinks order and another 20 minutes to comeback and take our food order. After waiting about 30 minutes we got our appetizers. Then it took 49 minutes to get our main meals we were ready to leave. I find this totally unacceptable from a restaurant that it suppose to be fine dining. At the prices of drinks and food my expectation was that the service and food was going to be outstanding, my recommendation is to whom ever reads this reviewed is if you a client, donât bother there are better places around if your are management make sure you are present and see how your restaurant is managed, I will give you the example of our waitress, she was really nice and knowledgeable but she give us the specials so fast that my head was spinning and I still didnât know really what were they. Thank you
Outstanding service and such delicious food. One of our favourite places in the city!!
Way too salty. Very expensive for portion size. Not the cleanest.
Wedding anniversary
Went for apps and drinks during Happy Hour. Our waiter was sweet and attentive but service was slow. Kitchen order took too long and we waited on second drinks for longer than usual. It wasnât even busy when we got there. Wings, duck confit nachos and potato skins were great. Would have ordered more during Happy Hour but no time due to service.
We had a reservation yesterday evening and requested outdoor seating. The person who greeted us (who ultimately ended up serving us) simply pointed at the patio and said âthatâs your tableâ; we were not shown to our table. We then sat at a plastic table without menus, placements, water, or cutlery for nearly 10 minutes before I asked another server outdoors if we could get some menus. This is unacceptable for a restaurant of this caliber and price range. We were then given menus and our server asked for our drink orders. He (Toby) then arrived with one of our drinks as he had forgotten my order, which I reminded him. When I raised my dissatisfaction at how we were greeted, he responded with multiple excuses and a brief apology. The food (two app-type items from the bar menu) took over an hour to come, and service was scarce once the food was delivered. I again has to request the bills. Overall the food is nice but a very disappointing service experience given the restaurantâs price range and reputation.
I booked the back patio and was very disappointed. The deck was shabby and very uncomfortable seating. No music playing, pigeons flying over us. We were forgotten by the staff, they were not engaging. I had to walk out to the bar and ask if we could order drinks, twice. No one came to our table to ask after 20 mins of being seated with not even water offered. We waited over an hour for our appetizers and waited two hours for our entrées. The food was moderately good. My halibut was over cooked (dry).
