Food was good but their price increase is drastic.Almost $30 per person.. a family of 5 with 2 kids over 10 = $155.00If they need to have increased prices, I get it, but at least broaden the age range for the child price to 13 and under... 11-13 year old kids eat about as much as my 8 year old (barely any) and paid full price. We used to go here all the time pre-covid but sadly won't be able to afford to go back as a full family. Just not worth it to pay adult prices for the kids.

Loved this. First time being here. Extremely friendly service. I use a walker and was asked a few times if I needed help. The food was great. Chicken balls had great meat to bread ratio, Mongolian (I think that's what they were called) Meatballs were so delicious. Excellent selection of food. Our server was very friendly, polite and cheerful. Made sure we knew there was no rush for us to finish. The restaurant was clean and quiet. Highly recommended if you ever visit St. John's Newfoundland.

I ordered food here for New Year’s Eve….. it came cold and revolting! It made me fall violently ill and I couldn’t continue with the plans I had. Would not recommend!

Histrically I have loved eating at teh Golden Phoenix, but this visit was not as nice. I think the pandemic has hit teir business hard, and it shows. There was no, or very little heat on in te restruant, and it being a winter's day meant it was quite cold at our table. We ordered from their "all you can eat" menu which was an excellent offerring even though it couldn't be buffet style to to provincial restricitions. Unfortunately, some of our dishes were not cooked to the same level of quality they normally are. The wonton soup was made with a powered chicken soup base and hot water. It did not have a good flavour profie and you could taste teh grit from the soup base powder. Some of our vegetable dishes like the chow mein were not fully cooked either. The vegetables were more on the raw side than aldente. All of our food came out hot, but cooled off really quicjly since it was so cold in the restruant. Hopefully soon they turn up the heat, and fingers crossed that the province allows buffet service again soon.

We ordered at 4pm for a 7pm Delivery. Full discloser the order was made through DoorDash. But when we got the food the order was wrong (incorrect rice), it was also cold and bland. It was like they cooked it at 4 and left it under a heat lamp. My GF had to reheat hers to make it edable. We both got very sick the remainder of NYE. Frankly terrible service/food. I've given a lot of room for business during COVID and we've had Golden Phoenix twice in 2021 both times horrible. Would not recommend for anyone that likes food. It was also the most expensive option. You can get way better food and, way better prices from almost any other Chinese food place in the city.

I was really enjoying having authentic Chinese food there at Golden Phoenix, i have been missing my hometown for quite long time, their food was fresh and services was really friendly and ethusiastic! Hopefully they can have more business with this Pandamic influence. All the best.

The building is kind of run down and smells a little weird. And the waiter was a little pushy. But the food was good, and not too expensive

High quality authentic Chinese food in taste, style and smell. Spicy or sweet. Their food is one of the best in Canada from west to east. I had my dinner three days in a row during my business trip in St John's NL. I definitely recommend this restaurant and will visit it some time in the future.

Service was fast, Food was bad. Went during covid restrictions when the the buffet was closed, got the all you can eat option. Tried several things. The chicken balls were ok but the sweet and sour pork was just fat. None of the dishes were good. Maybe it's just a problem with cost cutting during covid but the all can eat option was not a good choice. If you go get something else, and something that is not on the all you can eat list.

We ordered pick up. We like 2 mins away from the restaurant. The sweet and sour sauce was ice cold the wontons were ice cold. After we finished eating we found 3 black hairs one in the rice one in the wontons and one stuck on a chicken ball. We are both blonde. Called the restaurant and they didn’t understand or pretend to not understand. Will never go back or recommend
