Not the best service when we went. We sat on the harbour side patio to take advantage of the late day sun. Service was slow even though the patio was quiet. When our food arrived we didn’t get any side plates or cutlery. We had to ask for it and we also asked for salt, pepper and vinegar. We waited 5-7 minutes to season our meals and ended up having to go inside to get it. Beer selection is great and food is good. I would not recommend sitting on the patio at the back if you don’t want to be missed or forgotten.
Excellent quality for the price. We took the beef melt and the haddock tacos and both were very tasty. The kids had the fish and chips and they liked it. The home made tartare sauce is very good. Staff is very friendly. I don't like beer but they seem to have good products.
I do not usually write reviews, good or bad, and it pains me to write one now for one of my favourite restaurants. I love the Gahan House main restaurant, I go there frequently. But today I went to the new Food Truck at the container village and I was thoroughly unhappy with the service. I ordered a chicken sandwich. Now-- I get it-- if you are in a restaurant service can be slower. But this is fast food lol! I would even excuse a wait time of a 10-15 mins for a food truck. No biggie. But it took over half an hour to complete my order, and there may have been 3 orders fulfilled in my time waiting there, at most. Key word being "may." It was painfully slow, and no updates were made on the process. The person sitting at the cash was on his phone ffs. At around the 20 minute mark the chef went for a smoke break even! Obviously getting the job done in a timely manner was not important for him. When the food did finally come out yeah it was good. And yes the staff said a pretty cursory "sorry." But it was absolutely ridiculous that a chicken sandwich, which cost $14 by the way w/o french fries, took anywhere close to that long and no compensation offered. So yeah, definitely go to the regular restaurant! Just not the food truck
The experience at Gahan was enjoyable in every regard. Our server was friendly, but not overbearing. Food arrived hot and in a timely fashion. Fish tacos are on lots of menus uptown, but I have to say Gahan tacos are some of the best! Their french fries are really great as well; perfectly fried and salted. We had a spot on the patio, so we enjoyed the summer weather too. The only very minor critique is that the picnic tables could use a wipe-down; it's natural to have some debris on outdoor tables, but skip the bird poo ;)
We went for dinner and were greeted by awesome staff. Our bartender and server Sam was attentive, engaging. He was knowledgeable and advised us on the menu with recommendations based on our input. He was spot on! While there we were entertained by a local performer by the name of Derek Graham. We felt fortunate that we arrived when we did. He has a varied rang of music, and vocal rang as well.
just a great place, has it's own touches and attention to details! Very delicious food and good beers
A great meal, lovely venue and very pleasant and attentive servers. To the chef: don't put black olive tampenade over a lovely piece of salmon. It is too overpowering. Fortunately, I was able to remove it, leaving a perfectly cooked piece of fish with a lovely cream sauce, and delicious vegetables nicely presented.
Very nice atmosphere, excellent food. Spectacular Blueberry Ale. Great seafood chowder. Very attentive staff.
Had dinner here this evening. Was happy to find them open on the holiday. I think our server's name was Alex, not sure, anyway, he was fantastic. Checked in often and was very friendly and respectful, the kind of person you would like to be friends with. The food was great (but the service was even better). We had mussels, they had a ton of meat in them! They were huge! And in our entrées we could tell the ingredients were very fresh. The sauces were spectacular. My fiancée said, "you can tell they have a real chef here." Can't wait to come back again!
We are there last night for a birthday celebration. The service, the food, the atmosphere were all 5 star! Our waiter, Tyler was attentive and a lot if fun, which for us, is an important part of the picture. We had the salmon, the pan fried halibut, and I had 6 oysters for an appetizer! Apple crisp, washed down by a double shot of Cuban rum finished it all off. We will be back!
