This is one of few great experience I've ever have in the burger category in Wpg. I ordered the cheese burger. From the bread, patty, lettuce, pickles all are align with the hype that I have been hearing about, which is why I am curious and try it. However, the cheese burger is a tad too salty for my taste. On the other hand, the fries! The fries is awesome! No ketchup, no nothing.... just hot sauce, you are good to go! Even without anything, it can still compete with some fries you find in a casual family restaurants.Settings: drive-in, takeaway order.4.5 stars! This place is cash only, unfortunately.
Absolutely amazing, best burger I've had in a long time and I consider myself somewhat of a burger expert. I've eaten here in the past and the quality from years ago to now has increased a ton. Would give 10 stars if I could. Absolutely incredible and great prices & quanitymy little man loved the fries too!
Lived in this city my whole life and driven past this place countless times. Had some time today to stop in on my way through downtown, so I thought, “Let’s do this!” Coming north bound, you can’t turn left, so you just have to compensate for the roadways. Not an issue, just an FYI. Parking was good, as it seems most people aren’t there very long - just getting their food and driving off with it. Not all pricing on the sign is accurate. They have updated pricing on the hand-written signs on the windows. Cost has gone up for everything, so not surprised. Stood in line with some regulars. They were talking about how people who have lived here forever and always drive by finally stop in for the first time. I smiled and raised my hand. I said, “That’s me, today!” The server was very helpful regarding all my questions and I got the scoop on how to order from the regulars in line. Everyone was in a great mood, talking about the delicious food and the great weather.Cash only. I ordered a ‘Special’ which is a cheeseburger with all the fixings, a fry (one size only) and a chocolate shake. I took the advice of one of the other patrons and got my fries in a box vs a bag as I planned to eat them in my car, en route to my destination and added vinegar and salt right at the counter.Fries were super crispy and tasty!Burger was flavourful, but the bun was completely coming apart in my hands. I had to eat it much faster than I would’ve liked and didn’t get to savour the experience. Maybe I’ll eat at the picnic tables next time, as my burger bun won’t have a chance to get too moist and crumbly. The chocolate shake was thick, which I love. Not easy to find those anymore, for some unknown reason. They had many flavours to choose from, so I might venture to get a peach one next time.Menu is pretty basic, which isn’t a bad thing. It allows them to process orders fairly quickly. An overall great experience. I plan on coming back soon!
I went here because of the reviews. The fries were really bland and tasted of really old stale cooking oil. The burger looked like a disaster and tasted worse and smelled so bad! I ended up throwing it all away.
Vj's special... aka the mayo burger.. Disgusting.. had to scrape it off on heapsGood fries though
I have said "VJs SPECIAL and FRIES IN A BOX, please!" countless times and never plan to stop.Possibly the best and most consistant flavour burger spot in my world.I live out of town, when i get to visit home, I go DIRECTLY FROM THE AIRPORT and every chance i can while here.
Few things to know about this place.. 1. When business is hectic be quicker with orders, on both parts its needed, customers may think that VJs can handle slow ordering people but there are signs Outside with a menu, they cant wait around making food on demand orders, that being said they can certainly be hectic and abit rush rush and grumpy, it jas to be a mutual understanding. 2. If you are with a spare minute or 2 strike up a conversation, its def a place that the better they and more they see and know their customers the better the experience. And like with any fast food place or restaurant if the food is unsatisfactory take it back, and be polite.. Mistakes happen especially during rush hour for them, the food has been the same for many yeats and is worth it if the effort and patience is put in. (I wonder if john still runs the place) (my uncle) lol
Best burger in the city, in my opinion. I usually get the VJs special, but sometimes the double special if I'm crazy hungry. The burgers are so good, I lick the wrapper when I'm done.
One of Winnipegs more iconic hamburger joints. It's take out only and must pay in cash. Otherwise it's a treat for your taste buds.
There fries are the bomb and the owner was very friendly and enjoyed his stories.
