We have been going to Toy Sun for about five years now and they have the best Chinese food in Winnipeg! We lived on the northside where it is handy but we moved to the south end and will drive over 20km round -trip to get the Chinese food.I can honestly say we have never had a bad dish there yet. Our favourites are Ginger beef, sweet & sour pork , dry breaded shrimp, curry vermicelli and chicken fried rice. If you spend $50 you get the chicken fried rice free.The staff is super friendly and they haven’t had dining since before Covid we’ve eaten inside though and that’s good too.Good prices-great portionsPlease give them a try ?
The food is excellent. Unfortunately their website's menu is sadly out of date. Dishes advertised for $8.50 actually cost $11.75.It has been this way for about a year. No excuses.
Toy Sun is such a gem on the East Side of the city! Their food is fresh and made with high quality ingredients— the shrimps in the deluxe fried rice were GINORMOUS and the beef in the chow fun noodles was soft and tender! I have yet to find a better restaurant in the city that makes Honey Walnut Shrimp (like Panda Express but so much better!)Generous portions, fair prices, and phenomenal food! Toy Sun should be on everyone’s dinner rotation. A family favourite for years!
Tried Toy Sun for the first time. Staff were welcoming and friendly. Some dishes were good like the breaded shrimp, chow mein, breaded veal, and chicken balls. Fried rice had no taste and curry noodles were underwhelming. Expected more from a place with good reviews.
Love the battered shrimp, unlike other restaurants the batter is light, not thick puffs of greasy dough. I have never had shrimp this good...gold star! But the Shanghai noodles dish was awful.
We order from Toy Sun at least once a month just because the dishes (all) are delicious. There is a huge variety and prices are awesome not to mention the free rice that is always put into an order.
Always great! From large orders 280.00 worth of food to just 2 of us average 40.00 -50.00. Shrimp veal veggies chow mein always fresh and delicious
Very flavorful & such tasty food! I'm picky when it comes to food & this is definitely my new go to for Chinese food!!...... I just came back to give then 5 stars as even the next day its sooo f'n good!!!!
ordered the other day for the first time. service at supper time was impressive 26 minute wait time for a pickup order. Was disappointed in the chicken dishes found the chicken to be stringy tasted old and tough and cut too large . the chicken balls were huge, the size of golf balls. dry breaded spare ribs were in reality pork buttons but tasty. we enjoyed the beef and greens. all in all we found it too much a departure from our usual Chinese fare to truly enjoy.
Highly recommended delicious ? ordered a bunch of dishes all were tasty and well worth it generous portions.
