We were out with our grandson and stopped for lunch at Smitty’s in St James. We were greeted by a very enthusiastic host and seated promptly. Our server(DeeDee) attended right away and was very friendly. Our order was taken and options were provided. She returned with drinks and some colouring activity items to keep our grandson occupied while we waited. The food arrived in good time, was the right temperature and tasted great. Burger for me, waffles for grandma and grilled cheese sandwich for you know who, followed letter by ice cream. DeeDee attended regularly and made sure we were satisfied with everything. Overall a great lunch. Definitely recommended.
Took kids out for Birthday dinner, and we were seated at one table but then just as our food arrived we were told by ANOTHER Server to move tables as the baby in a high chair was in the way of the servers walk wayThey moved us to a smaller table that we barely fit at, and nothing like a cold steak.. ?Our server Ysabel on the other hand was awesome, thank you YsabelAlthough the kids did love the staff singing happy Birthday aswell
SMITTYS IS NOT IT! July 10th 2022 , 2:40pm. This it’s not the first time that has happened to me with Smitty’s. I ordered food worth over $80 and did not receive my complete items. I ordered their Bacon Denver omelette , not only did they not include the toast to go with my meal, but they also didn't give me the breakfast poutine I paid $3,49 extra for. Today I decided to call Smittys directly, the St James location seeing as its where i ordered from. I was passed on to the manager and I explained to her the situation and she said she’ll look into it. She came back to me saying that I have the poutine is packed and that all i had to do was pour the hollandise on top of my hash browns and that was the poutine! That made no sense and I told her that, and she explained that they keep the sauce separate from the hash browns to avoid getting them soggy. When she said this I understood that she was taking me for a fool trying to say that the hash brown in the picture below plus the hollandaise sauce will make the poutine I paid for. So does that mean i paid $3.49 for just sauce? And this is sauce that comes with every breakfast meal!!! I am very angry and upset because the manager treated me like a fool and lied to me only for her to come back later on and say that they had sold out of breakfast poutine and were out of the bread. I asked her then why did you lie to me the first time telling me that the poutine was the hashbrowns and the sauce, only for her to say that she did not lie to me !? Why?!I have been a client at smittys and have looked past similar mistakes that have previously happened, but the manager’s response was the most unprofessional thing I’ve ever experienced, and being a manager myself I was shocked by the audacity.She told me she couldn’t help and I should take it up with Skip. This is the first bad review I’ve ever written and I believe it was well deserved. The second picture is the “poutine” this “manager “ girl was telling me I received! Like I’ve had your food before and i know what poutine is! Y’all lost my business.
We don't have a Smitty's anymore where we live and were excited to see a few in Winnipeg. Our meal was excellent.
I met a client for breakfast to do investment business. The food was great, I closed the deal, and the server “Kayla” did a great job—gave great service without interrupting my presentation! A great experience
Went in for Wing Night during the "Blizzard of the Decade" and was greeted with warm interior, staff and food. The wings were tasty and well priced, and I even tried the deep-fried cheese cake which was just the desert to end the meal.

The meal was great and the staff was amazing except the manager. He was very disrespectful to staff and made the experience very annoying and anxiety provoking to me.Pretty sure they must have a huge turnover in staff. I will not go back.I know that there was a line up but OMG there was no need for his unprofessional, disrespectful attitude toward staff.Respectful work place is not a reality here. m sure this manager fail the respectful work place course .
Great food, good service, but gets pricey for a family. Had about a 15 minute wait to get in, and the washroom was dirty, but one could order out to avoid that.
Smitty's is exactly what you expect: average food at a perhaps slightly above average price. Service has been very good though in my last few visits which is a selling point, and the kitchen does what they can despite the rather unassuming menu.
