We went on Wednesday when they had buck a shuck. It's a very comfortable setting. I was told the head chef is the original one from peasant cookery. I've always enjoyed his food in the past.Service was generally very pleasant and professional except for two incidents which involved a serving staff, but we addressed that with management and they said they will look into it..Oysters on buck a shuck night 5 starsVol au vent 4.25 starsSauce was delicious. It's a very heavy dish.Seared duck 5 starsThis is the dish I'm still cravingDuck cassoulet 3.5 starsThis was not a favorite. It was fine, but maybe because they substituted the meat this time because they ran out, it wasn't the way it should be.As to one of the incidents...At one point my man was handed a plate of oysters which he was expected to grab. When he was trying, the server fell a bit forward and 2 oysters flew off the plate. They said they would replace them but didn't. We were still charged for them. They were only a dollar so we didn't make a fuss about it.Value is key and buck a shuck is certainly value which is why this is a 5 star for this visit. They also had one outstanding item that I would happily return for.Parking is available in a large shared parking lot.

The one dollar oysters were amazing. It tasted fresh and tasted flavourful with the sauces. Their seared duck is also amazing. It was flavourful, moist and the sauce complemented the duck.

I mean look at the charcuterie board. It’s all meat with a couple of beans and pickles thrown on top. Presentation is quite unappetizing. The cold cuts all tasted the same and there was just too much pate, especially considering the amount of bread we got. We just weren’t able to finish it, how do you eat that much pate in one sitting?Tartare was ok, but again, there was just not enough bread. As seen in the picture, they gave us 5 very thin slices of bread. I’ve never had beef tartare served this way. We finished half the tartare before running out of bread, and had to finish the rest without.Service was fine. Decor was a little dim and drab. Drinks were mediocre. The only saving grace of this place was buck-a-shuck oysters on Wednesdays. Overall, likely will not come back.

We had such a good experience here! I have a number of dietary restrictions (low FODMAP) which makes it hard to eat out. I called ahead to let them know my restrictions and the restaurant made every effort to accommodate. When we arrived they were prepared with several menu options that I could eat. It made the whole experience very stress-free! I had the duck and it was delicious - so tender and flavourful. My husband had the burger and loved it. Pavlova for dessert was amazing. Many menu items are locally sourced, which is great. Our server was friendly and knowledgeable. We will be back!

We ate here for the first time and it will definitely be our last time. We were really looking forward to trying it out. But....the service was slow, it was either freezing cold at our table to the point of having to put our jackets on or very warm all of a sudden. The food looked very nice and fancy but had little to no flavor. Everything was drowning in butter. I'm not sure if they forgot to season our food but it was very disappointing and blan.

Fantastic evening. Our server, Shannon, was positive, upbeat, prompt and knowledgeable. She had a male food runner assisting her (did not get his name) and he was amazing. Made our anniversary dinner tonight a worthwhile time. The Duck, steak tar tar and quiche / salad were high points.

After reading lots of buzz, got to experience Preservation Hall Eatery + Wine Bar last night. Super choice for our first friends' public dinner out since Dec/19. Comfortably upscale, but not pretentious. After learning the chef/owner hails from years at Peasant Cookery, perhaps I shouldn't have been surprised. Ambiance and decor is lovely; our server was knowledgeable and delightful. Dining wasn't rushed, with none of that "you've got two hours" crap. That always irks me when a large group (8 last evening) dropping over $100 a person before tip. Food was sublime, maybe the best beef tartare I've had in town, and some unique offerings as well. Definitely will be enjoying this local spot again!

My sister took me to Preservation Hall, one of her local favourites, for lunch last week while my husband and I were visiting from Saskatoon. I ordered the Smash Burger and she ordered the beer battered Pickerel. The words “melt in your mouth” are usually used for chocolate, but now I’ve officially had a melt in your mouth burger. Very tasty and filling. My sister shared a piece of her pickerel. While not being a seafood fan, it too was divine. The next day I brought my husband and he had the Smash burger (loved it) and I ordered the pickerel - first time ordering seafood since the Eaton’s restaurant closed in Winnipeg. It was excellent. Hope to visit Winnipeg this summer and will put Preservation Hall on the menu.

Unexpected gem in the suburbs with local produce, stumbled across it looking at the map for restaurants close to my hotel. Very attentive service even picking up takeout - order directly from the restaurant website. Presentation was as nice as takeout can be, and they pack the hot and cold dishes separately. Seared duck was fantastic, vegan cheesecake was enjoyable but the chocolate dessert was the highlight and definitely enough to share between two.

A most incredible dining experience. Love that they are staying the course and continuing to check proof of vaccinations — this made us feel comfortable to dine in, something we’re not doing at most restaurants.Food was INcredible! Started with a charcuterie board with the most amazing meats and pickled veggies, and a lovely manchego cheese. Followed by main courses of Arctic char amandine and smoked brisket. Both were meltingly tender and almost beyond words.Chased everything with a pair of mocktails, the Storm Cloud and Love Potion. Hey. Six month anniversary. Time to celebrate. Thanks, Preservation, for giving us an absolutely amazing dinner. We will return!
