Had a lovely dinner at the Oval Room during my stay at Fort Garry. The food was delicious, and our bartender/server Rowan was amazing! I really liked how the menu’s gave personal shout outs to their staff at the bottom of one of the pages- they truly deserve it with their excellent service! Thanks again ☺️

Great drinks. Great service. Wonderful atmosphere, but bad food. Flavourless. I love the place so will continue to go. Been going there forever (my spouse was a bus boy there more than 40 years ago). But really. Improve the food. What you are serving is much less than mediocre. Please do better.

I love the ambience and looks fancy and seats are comfortable. The staff and servers are awesome and friendly. Love their old fashioned drink which is peanut whisky. I had the meatloaf and fish fry too. Both were so good!

Great service. Thanks Rowan. Mushroom truffle special pasta good, but portion way too small. I left still hungry. Ambience is perfection. Remodel so beautiful. Excellent Old Fashions.

Terrible food unfortunately. Very disappointed as it was our daughters 16th Birthday. Fish and chips was flavourless and overcooked and dried out. Salmon “on a bed of asparagus “ had 3 skinny asparagus that were the combined size of a pinky finger with a buttery soupy sauce that was runny all over the plate. Calamari was small portions for $20 a plate. Service was mediocre at best with cutlery not being replaced between servings. Poured our own wine from the chiller twice. Not impressed, won’t go back.

Where is the piano!!??Went tonight for dinner with a friend. The remodel is so incredible and dinner was great. It was a really sad thing to see the piano missing - even if it would have been nearby playing, it has always been such a classy and wonderful part of the elegance and ambiance of going to the Palm Room - now the Oval Room. The other thing, you are really packed in there. There is not a lot of space between table to navigate your way around to get in and out of the room. Seating is so comfortable though. All in all, a great night to celebrate a birthday, I do hope some thought is put into putting the piano back into, if not the actual space, nearby. It is what I have always, and my friends as well, looked forward to. A decadent indulgence and a night spent in an environment reminiscent of days gone by.

My family and I came here yesterday for Easter brunch and we were all left a little disappointed. We sat at our table for 10 minutes before anyone came over to greet us even though there were only 6 tables in the whole restaurant. Finally, someone came over but they didn’t end up being our server and it wasn’t until the third person came over did we realize that was our server. Our server was nice enough but never told us her name and it wasn’t until after we paid the bill and tipped her did she try and chat with us.The food was mediocre at best. For the prices they charge (and the fact that this is a Fort Garry hotel restaurant) I expected a lot more. If you’re looking for a great brunch place in the city I would skip the Oval Room and go somewhere else like Clementine or Juneberry. Overall, a disappointing experience.

Went for my birthday last Friday. It was a really great time! The service was phenomenal, the renovations really modernized the lounge, the drink menu is FUN to explore, the food was delicious. We tried the burrata, mussels, oysters, pickerel bites, a steak, and the profiteroles. Everything was delicious. There was still so much left to try!! We will be back.PS. my partner said the steak was the best he has ever had.

First time at the restaurant. Atmosphere is bland no pops of colour just an abundance of olive green patterned carpeting and olive velvet chairs and cream walls.Breakfast menu extremely limited in choices.Took 20 minutes to get water or coffee and that was only after waving down staff that were preoccupied with tables that came in after us.Then another 10 minutes to get water coffee and order taken 10 minutes after that. 20 minutes to get orders only 3/4 came together the 4 th -just toast and jam came later…Toast was hard and burned. The others felt their food was adequate but not Chef quality. The positive after I complained and the others chimed in was the manager compted the cheque.I likely will not go back.

One of my favourite places to dine. The food is delicious, the cocktails are perfect, the wine list is wonderful. Service was a little slow on the patio in the summer but they’re on their game now. Always fabulous.
