Is there any chance of getting a truly 5 ⭐ restaurant of Chinese cuisine in South St Vital. If like myself you are searching; then you can skip this place. Food is truly good however, customer service is non-existent. On my birthday, my out of town cousin came over as we were going to enjoy Chinese food. I called my go too place for Chinese. They assured me it would be an hour assurances I had recieved many times before....2 hours later my cousin decided to leave .She was concerned with the fact that the restaurant's phone line was busy and off the hook so food delivery status was not possible. As I had called earlier I did not know what to expect because at the hour 20 mark, I was assured only 10 more minutes. I subsequently refused the order when the delivery person called at 8pm for a 6pm order as my guest had gone home. The manager called only concerned as to whether I wanted the order didn't care that their ineffectiveness made my birthday disappointing. Lost of a 2 year good customer...who cares
We had a large order delivered and it was the best! It came early and the attention to detail was much appreciated. The food was fresh, appealing, and delicious.
Decided to treat myself after not eating out for months and order from New China Kitchen. I used to order from there many years ago and really liked it. I am not sure if the cook was having a bad day, but everything I ordered was terrible. Dry breaded veal so tough and dry you could not chew plus it had a small bone in it, very doughy chicken balls with little sauce, grisely hot honey chicken, tasteless shanghai noodles. When I called the restaurant, they made no real effort to make it right. Just offered to send out new veal and some sweet and sour sauce. This was both a food and customer service fail. All food will go to the bin as it was terrible. Will not order from here again. I was tempted in the first place because of the positive reviews, but in my opinion, not reliable.
Ordered dinner at 4:00pm for a 6:15pm delivery. Waited over 30 mins after the time we ordered for, we saw the delivery driver pull up and the turn around and take off without delivering our food. We called to find out where the food was, had to call multiple time before the phone was answered, got put on hold over 5 times and was on the phone with them for over 15 minutes trying to figure out where the food was. The manager end up on the phone with us and told us that they would make us new food and it would be there in 20 mins.Food showed up 30 mins after this phone call, same car we saw before. The food was cold and stale, we ended calling again to figure out why it took so long (over 1.5 hours to receive our food) & why we didnt get new food as promised ONLY for the MANAGER to hand off the phone to an employee and tell us there was nothing more they could do.No discounts where offered for the HORRIBLE customer service, none of our questions about why it took so long and why we didnt get new food as promised where answered and we felt the manager should have taken more responsibility rather then handing the call off to an employer. We will NOT be ordering for here again and do NOT recommend this restaurant.
i originally posted a bad review cause of what happened but i am now changing it because they did rectify the situation pretty well and i'm pleased. thank you.
The food was very fresh and delicious. It came quicker than expected and the chicken balls, hot and sour soup and deluxe wonton were fantastic. Honestly everything was great, I even called them after to let them know how happy we were. Thanks New China Kitchen
I saw a friend of mine reviewed New China Kitchen. I decided to try it. I’m so happy I did. The kitchen balls are so meaty. Everything else is delicious. It’s our new go to Chinese food.
Very, very disappointed. Unfortunately this restaurant has a new owner and food went downhill big time.I just spent $50 on food. Ordered chicken balls with honey garlic sauce, pork dumplings, deluxe wonton soup. Some of it will end up in the dumpster.None of the food tastes like before or good for that matter. You can tell that new owner tries to go cheap. Pork dumplings stink like old meat. Can't eat them. Soup laks flavour, it's flat and has same nasty dumplings in it.Honey garlic sauce looks like gel.If you never tried this place maybe you will like it, stay away from the dumplings tho.To the staff that works there : sorry for bad review guys but that new owner will make you lose tips and your jobs if he will keep it this way.To the owner : shame on you buddy, you are going to kill a popular restaurant.
Dry breaded veal so touch it couldn't be chewed, doughy chicken balls, skimpy sweet and sour sauce, grisely hot honey chicken and tasteless shanghai noodles. Restaurant did make a genuine attempt to make this order right. Terrible food, terrible customer service. Waste of money!
Decided to try something different for Xmas day. Placed an order with New China kitchen days before Xmas day to make sure there would be no last minute screw ups. Have ordered from them in the past and was pleased with quantity and taste of their food. Not so this time! Not very tasty, very small portion size and to top it off NO RICE. Can you believe a Chinese restaurant runs out of rice? I guess if you live long enough you do see everything. My verdict is for them to up their portions and put a bit more flavour into their dishes and please have enough rice to allow a proper dining experience. Back to the Marigold for me!!!!
