We moved away from Winnipeg 3 years ago. My husband and son stopped in for a visit while traveling recently and were greeted like old friends. I wish I'd been there too. I haven't been able to find a fish & chip meal anywhere near as good as Joey's for a long time. And yes, we still have the Finley stuffie that Brenda gave to my son so many years ago.
Great service, and free refill on fries. Really an excellent waitress, and food was great!

The fish pieces were all batter. the manager even came out and said we gave you an extra piece because the fish was small but that became only extra batter. If there was a negative rating they would get a -5. Totally wasted my time. Would never go back there. The fish & chips were good. My table was not clean when I sat down,and I had to wait several minutes before anyone seated me. (only 3 other tables occupied, noone at the front.)

If I could give a negative I would.Before coming, I checked on the website for the all you can eat Tuesday special for $14.95. It specifically shows this location is included in the Tuesday special.When I arrived, I was told “we don’t do that anymore since the beginning of Covid.”After my dinner, I called another location in the city and asked if they had the special.They said yes and it was for $14.95.Ended up I paid $16.95 for 3 piece fish meal.In addition, the pieces were smaller… and the table was sticky.Do not spend your money or time here, go to another location that would appreciate your service.
Overall a very enjoyable menu that stayed fresh and tasty after pick up. The haddock was nice and crispy on the outside. The coating thickness had a nice balance of thickness and crunch that highlighted to taste of the fish as opposed to masking it. The fries were excellent. My fear was with take out and travel time they would be mushy but exactly the opposite. Nicely seasoned and crispy, Mmmmm A generous portion of the tartar sauce was included. Sadly we had ordered the spicy cole slaw but they dropped the ball on that but when informed, handled it appropriately.
