Soup dumplings had tasty filling. The eggplant dish was tasty but wish it was spicier. The chili oil is yellow and not spicy. Over all flavors were good. The lady serving us was very kind and attentive.
Great service, tasty foods, highly recommend?
Words can not describe how much we love this restaurant. The service is perfect, so is the food. Never a bad experience here and I appreciate the help I get hauling the boxes out to my car!
We ordered the soup dumplings, the "special fish", mapo tofu, and deep fried spare ribs. They were all super good, but I would highly recommend the soup dumplings and "special fish"! The restaurant has a very home like feel, and the server was super nice. The server said that if you're planning on having dumplings you should call ahead (like 20 mins) to them know so that you don't have to wait too long
Had dinner with a group of friends (4 in total) for dinner and it's pretty good.We were greeted warmly and very hospitable. One of the owners (I'm assuming the mother) was so welcoming and was optimistic throughout our entire meal, basically made me feel lime I was at home. Even as going far as giving as a bowl of white rice.We ordered Mapo Tofu, Sweet and Sour Pork, Hawaiian Fried Rice, Soup Dumplings, and i believe the barbeque chicken. All the meals were tasteful and didn't lack any flavour. Good amount of portion for what you pay for.My key takeaway for each meal though is:- The mapo tofu wasn't as spicy as we thought (I'm not used to having very spicy)- Soup Dumplings, although it had good filling, I wish it had more soup and less meat filling.- Sweet and Sour pork still had some crunchiness even after covered with sauce throughout our dinner- i didn't have much of the chicken meal we had, but it wasn't overcooked, still had moisture compared to some places where the chicken was dry.Food and Service is on point, I personally would visit again.
Love this place, been going here for years! The owners are so nice and friendly! Highly recommend ??
Was in the south end of the city and wanted some Chinese food. Thought I would try a new restaurant. Well, unfortunately not very good food at this one. The guy I paid was nice. Should have known it would have been second rate when the nice guy told me how slow it’s been. During Covid I’ve found that most restaurants that feature takeout have been fairly brisk. You would think that during a time where your business is down that each customer matters! Not here, second rate food. How do you go wrong with fried rice!?! I swear some of the food was out of a frozen box. I could go on but why. All I can say is this, Tons of other restaurants around that serve way better food. Keep driving and look for any other restaurant.
Yan Yan made us feel so welcome right from our first visit there. She has no hesitation in guiding you to order what the freshest item on the menu today is. The food is Shanghai style cooking (hence Hai Shang), and some differences if you're expecting Cantonese style food. It's all delicious though, and it is thanks to this restaurant that we were able to try Soup Buns for the first (and every subsequent) visit!! Delicious.
Had a wonderful family dinner here last night, service was great and friendly, food prepared fresh. The aunty will chat with everyone it feels like being a guest at someones house. We tried a lot of their dishes and everything was delicious, the soup dumpling were good but would have been better if the skin was thinner (comparing it to Din Tai Fung which is the best xiao long bao I have tried)We also ordered from the special menu and it was both awesome, beef stew and rice wine fish. From the regular menu we ordered and enjoyed the crispy beef ginger, mapo tofu, shanghai special soup, pan fried noodles and the bbq chicken with sauce. This is a very good family run chinese restaurant with authentic flavours and unique dishes that are not your run of the mill westernised chinese food, highly recommended!
The pineapple shrimp is amazing! Had that and the deep fried spicy salt calamari. Batter could of been fried longer to a more crispy texture), and beef and gai lan. DO NOT GET THE CALAMARI. Funky
