We enjoyed the halibut fish and chips at the fabulous Fergies Fish and Chips at The Forks! WOW.....delicious fish and great atmosphere here! The people who worked and served us our lunch at Fergies were very friendly....and very pleasant! Fergies is our GO TO place to eat when we hit The Forks!!!
I tried the pickerel at this location and the cod at another location. Someone mentioned that they didn't like paying $75. If you don't want to pay that much, don't get the halibut! I didn't try it because it was expensive compared to the other options. I also don't know how they spent $75 for two people. They must have had a boatload of food. One hearty meal was enough for two people. Maybe they ordered two hearty meals? The pickerel and cod are the same price. I thought the fries were pretty good. I wish they gave sauces in portion cups instead of the unsanitary "sauce bar" they have where everyone touches the containers. It was hard to decide whether the pickerel or cod were better. They were both great. The pickerel might have actually been more robust in flavor. The major knock for me with this place is the fake poutine. If I order poutine, I expect cheese curds, not shredded cheese. The definition of poutine is fries, gravy, and cheese curds. Fries with gravy and shredded cheese are called disco fries!
Chips were bland and unseasoned, clearly cooked in old oil and the fish was definitely undercooked. Tar tar sauce tastes like onion and garlic.
The Hearty Pickerel is so good . And serving is huge . I have no idea the serving size so I added 2 more which shouldn’t be . But anyhow , the fish is really good but the not the chips or fries. I didn’t eat it.
If you are in forks you must try Fergies fish and chips. Their fishes are always fresh and tastes delicious.I really loved their previous packaging. They used to put it in paper cone. I wish they bring those back.
The fries from this place were amazing, 5 stars, but the fish was very bad. I ordered the pickerel and chips and was disappointed with the taste, smell, and texture of it. It feels as though it was deep fried from frozen and allowed to “sweat” through the batter. Was very difficult to eat as every bite felt like it was gushing lake water in my mouth.
Favourite fish and chips in the city. The forks location has the best food out of all their locations, I do think the quality differs between them. The Tatar sauce is sooooo good. Also love the light and crispy batter on their pickerel.
Always get the cod and chips. Soooo good! Whenever you're at The Forks in Winnipeg, you have to try it. There's Fergies Fish N chips at Polo Park in the Food Court as well.
Great fish & chip store at The Forks - authentic food, always hot & freshly cooked to order. I would recommend this place. New 2nd outlet also opened in Polo Park Mall.
Absolutely terrible. Undercooked fish ( nearly raw) and fries done several times. This was at St vital Centre and due to Covid the seating area was cordoned off and we were unable to make the trip back to the cashier
