Been eating here for years, used to be one of my fave restaurants. During Covid, like many places I noticed a big decline in their portion to cost ratio. I ordered after a 1.5 year break from eating there and oh my word, it was AMAZING!Previously I noticed that the ton katsu ramens portions had decreased by more than half. However today I had their special, can't remember what it was called but it was essentially ton katsu on omu rice. For the price of around 17 dollars the ton katsu was bigger than my face on an equally large fluffy egg over flavorful rice! I am so happy to be writing this as my last review broke my heart. So glad to be back and your new menu is great.
This is my favourite restaurant in the country, if not the world. I loved it so much the first time, I returned every day for the rest of my stay in Winnipeg to try out as much as possible from their extensive menu.Everything I tried was delicious, without exception. The menu options are authentically Japanese, and are sometimes adjusted to Western tastes. The Russian Roulette takoyaki was a lot of fun because you don’t know when you’ll eat the super spicy one! The shoyu abura soba might be my favourite dish. The gyoza are handmade. The teriyaki meat sauce korokke was hearty. The onigiri was bigger than expected, and could be a meal in itself. The chicken katsu was impossibly crispy. The black sesame jelkshake will turn your うんち black. Sorry… TMI.The portions are big so bring your appetite or a friend to share with. Great value for your money! I ate like a 豚 the four times I went. The service was friendly and the decor is nice. You wouldn’t know it’s a Japanese restaurant. Until Japan reopens its borders to tourism, we can be grateful to have a restaurant like this one in Canada! ありがとうございます!
Friendly service, great food and large portions. What more could you ask for!
This is our favorite restaurant in the city. Having been to Japan twice, I can say without hesitation they are the most authentic Japanese food you can get in Winnipeg (the owners are from Tokyo). The menu options are vast and offer things you can't get anywhere else in Winnipeg, plus the specials change regularly so you have to keep going back to try them! The owner/chef Take is so friendly and can adapt almost anything for your tastes. Can't recommend this restaurant enough ?
Friendly service and delicious food--would come back for those two reasons. The okonomiyaki was okay but the matcha white hot chocolate hit the spot on a cold chilly day. One of few places in the city that has black sesame ice cream.
By far the best place for Japanese cuisine! Other places I've had in the city don't come close! For small online order lunches at work, this is our go-to Japanese place. Portions are great and food tastes SO delicious!
I love the food at Dwarf. Portions are generous and the flavours fantastic. I highly recommend the okonomiyaki - I usually get the chicken and pork. The gyoza are also among the best I’ve had in Winnipeg.
I've been waiting so patiently for their dine in to open and tonight's food dishes didn't disappoint ❤ Food was prepared quickly and was so delicious ? Just a recommendation but would be a good idea to hire more waiters/waitresses ?
Have eaten here and wasn’t Inlove. Too much mayo but people stand by this place. The place smells and my daughter refused to eat here. The gift store was sad.
Their Sakura Milkshake is a must-taste as well as their Chocolate Melonpan near the heart of Provencher.
